Thank you very much Adriane for that letter on mental illness and addictions......you were very clear and very informative as well as compassionate....unfortunately many people in this world have their strange ideas about mental illness and addictions, and they really DO expect the sufferer to just suck it up and " choose " to be well...that's easy to say, and impossible to do...only with help from our Beloved Deity can any change come...with Divine Grace alone. but then the comments are more or less what we have grown to expect from our friend tom, who's compassion appears to be expressed in cutting words rather like the surgeon's scalpel....perhaps in his remote austere kind of dispassionate love he is attempting to excise the demons of misunderstanding and the tumours of ignorance...only his viewpoint is from such a lofty place, in the mental Himalayas, that he has apparently forgotten what it's like to be vulnerable, and feeling not in charge of your own life.....or perhaps he has felt so victimised himself by society, that he has precious little loving compassion left for us weaker members.... we could call that " tough love " if there is any love behind it....perhaps for some people his attitude might help them....at least help them to turn to Divine Mother for support and to help them out of this gutter of despair and repetitive self-destruction...only with Her loving help can we ever hope for relief......i must eternally thank Her for all Her help, and for Her lifting me out of the Gutter onto Her loving lap.....without Her Grace, i would still be there.....Thank you Mother!!! Thank you.......Jaya Amma~! In Amma's Divine Love, and in Her Service as ever your own Self visvanathan
Guest guest
Namah Shivaya! Indeed it is only through Amma's grace that I am alive really. It is truly our guru's grace that we have the very next breath. Simply observing others and their behaviors hardly gives license to understanding any medical facts or what truly is at hand in mental afflictions. It's sad to realize how others view these things because the suffering of those afflicted is already so difficult. To have others look down upon them as though it's their own fault is more than heartbreaking since I personally know people with several of these disorders. Their lives are difficult and despite doing all they can to get better, many suffer every day. True medical knowledge is reading about it to gain understanding. Ignorance truly is not bliss-it creates suffering for everyone around them. I also began to think of Amma coming to the aid of the farmers in India where suicide rates have become epidemic. She knowingly understood their suffering without blame and complete compassion. That is the real fear and horror of depression-suicide where someone has lost all hope. She never said to them " get over it. " Most graciously, our beloved guru understands the suffering for those with depression and has rushed to their sides. Let's pray that the compassionate grace of our divine Mother will somehow soften the hearts of those who render the cold blows of judgement and lack of compassion to our suffering brothers and sisters. Only Her divine grace can shower us with understanding. in Her divine service, at Her most beautiful lotus covered feet, adriane Ammachi , " visvanathan " <kasi_visvanath wrote: > > Ammachi , " n2amma " <a1driane@> wrote: > > > > Oh, hello everyone I am so sorry but I have to address this claim to > > " knowledge " that is absurd and destructive. > > > > This is so ridiculous really in the year 2008 to make such a broad > > AND INCREDIBLY uninformed swipe at what is a true illness. Guest guest
dont you love it when AMMAs children talk about our MOTHER in this way.the testimony's of the heart is one of the things that keeps this heart going.you know beloved sister, when we become crazy enough to actually believe that we can embody HER principles and share them with the world ,i believe that SHE smiles at us.i believe that SHE wants us to trust with everything that we can share compassionatte words and deeds with this world and those that suffer.AMMAs sun does a lot of research on the gopi's,hamuman, and radha.these beings along with valmicki ,i have grown to fall in love with.they loved GOD with everything.they loved so mucH that it swallowed them up. i want to be swallowed up like this.if i want this for others ,it is not in judgement of where that are at in their spiritual growth,it is simply because i have tasted this.SHE has given me just little taste and i want to share it with everyone.i believe peace on earth will come, when we all want this bliss for others more then we want it for ourselves. even if we get into disputes with each other.so what! we are family.are we not all children of the same DIVINE MOTHER.children disagree, argue and even fight sometimes, but the difference hereis is that we all have been given spiritual principles to come back to when we fall asleep. AMMAs sun falls asleep all the time, however he has learned that apologizing can wake his heart back up.asking for forgiveness is to wake up.forgiving yourself is to wake up.forgiving others is to wake up.who cares who is right, when peace of mind is at stake.dont we all want peace of mind?we all want the same things don't we.dont we all want harmony and peace and love to reighn supreme on this earth.does that not have to start with us.with me.with you. we all agree on that i am sure.there is no spiriitual doctrine that says i can blame you for anything.that is politics not spirituality.spirituallty is taught to us by the VERY BREATH THAT WE BREATHE!doesn't it feel good to know that we are a part of the SOLUTION FOR WORLD PEACE.we have come back to this earth with AMMA.SHE says that.this is not my word.what have we returned for?why is temba here.is it to argue and complain and to blame.why i am here is revealed to me every time i breathe in and exhale.i am here to recieve love and to give love.i can do no more then that.we are all vessels of the BREATH(LOVE).this is so simple.just breathe.we have come to this place called earth to love and serve.anyone who deny's that is denying that they breathe in and out.love youAMMA,AMMA,AMMA,AMMMA,AMMA,AMMA,AMMA,AMMA,AMMA.................. Guest guest
Observation and discrimination does more than you think. STOP BEING AN ENABLER. Amma's aid to the farmer's plight was a practical one, scholarships for their kids, etc., right? Oh, pleeeeeeeeeeeez. Get over it. Even those farmer's won't stop killing themselves if they bury their head in the sand and say " it's not my fault, it's a chemical imbalance. " or " I was beaten as a kid " , etc etc etc........... I've seen too many people avoid their real issues by going from one anti-dep drug to another, because their doctor was so committed to finding the right one, instead of insisting they get Psychotherapy, not pharmacology. Get real. The " fix " that anti-dep drugs do is only temporary, and only addresses the symptoms (ie, feelings) not the real cause. Guest guest
Aum Namah Shivaya ! Thanks temba, amarnath, adriane and visvanathan for keeping up my spirits towards my spiritual advancement. These helping tips from you are wonderful. Hope we get more and more receptive in receiving these positive vibes from Her. It really helps to know others' experiences, specially the hard rock one. I loved it as I could totally understand. It made me feel confident about my chosen path. Silencing my mind is my spiritual goal at the moment, hope I will be better with this next year. I learnt IAM this year. I hope that will really speed up reaching my goal. May all of us receive tons and tons of Amma's Blessings and Grace & be more positive ! Guest guest
For example, in 2006 in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra alone, there were 1,044 reported suicides - one every eight hours. In the spring of this year, after discussions on the issue with Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, Amma found herself pledging 43 million dollars to address this problem. She admitted later the large dollar amount she had pledged surprised her but in the moment she had felt drawn to offering at least that much to help the situation. As part of the pledge, Amma offered that the MA Math would launch a massive project to provide aid and hope for the future for these struggling farmers. " THE PROBLEM CANNOT BE SOLVED BY ECONOMIC PACKAGES ALONE, " Amma told the Maharashtra CM. " What is needed is social and spiritual interventions so that the farmers realize that suicide is not the way out. In fact, it only further aggravates the problem for the families. Feeling immense compassion for their suffering due to their unfortunate circumstances, Amma felt counseling and education could really help them get through to the other side. -- In Ammachi , " tom " <tomgull wrote: >> Amma's aid to the farmer's plight was a practical one, scholarships > for their kids, etc., right? > > Oh, pleeeeeeeeeeeez. Guest guest
yes I could not agree more , there is deeper underlying issue that is economical disaster for people which causes their mental shatter it happens in here too by the way ! , the farmers need to be economically guided to become self sustainable farmer , its truly sad that a farmer Who has such powerful role in society , they feed Us ( can You imagine that ) by taking care of earth , plowing it , growing fruits and vegetables end up in total poverty themselves some are forced to use pestisides , geneticaly modified grain which want reproduce now how worped is that. Goverments need to support farmers not chemical labs that produce cloned tomatoes in labs, what's wrong with the one grown on a farm. I think the issue here is much deeper than just psychological one , its basically complete Economical Poverty so while a movie star makes millions, the farmer that feeds your family is on verge of complete economical colapse this is un- equality, issue needs to be adressed to law makers just like here in states . observations thoughts joanna > Observation and discrimination does more than you think. > STOP BEING AN ENABLER. > > Amma's aid to the farmer's plight was a practical one, scholarships > for their kids, etc., right? > > Oh, pleeeeeeeeeeeez.
