This i didn't understand. Isn't Sade Saati when Saturn passes through

the signs of and surrounding the Moon? Yet they are talking about

Lagna/Ascendant...

Sorry this is so long...

First, let me preface this with that

jyotishi's probably wouldn't tell you

what I'm telling you. It's culminated

from learning aspects of jyotish and verifying

it with actual experience. And, my insistence

that things like jyotish, mantras, etc have

a PRACTICAL use. For years, Western astrology

has gotten a bad name for merely telling you

about yourself (who cares?) or for easy things

like Mercury Retrograde.

It doesn't remove the necessity for a

jyotishi for basic information and readings.

But, being merely a scholar hasn't made saints

out of bible-thumpers either. There's lots

of mis-information out there about Jyotish,

even among Hindu's. Years ago they reported a

surge in breeding black dogs for the high

demand in pleasing Saturn. Dog would please

Ketu, Black pleases Rahu, while black would

strengthen Saturn(!). How does a dog help

pacify delays and dryness? Awareness and

Discrimination would show this to be true,

versus pundits.

This is the difference between 'actual' and

theory. Same with Feng Shui and the

superstitious parts of it (redhat/black hat?!).

Just pay attention to the flow patterns in

your house and you'll get enough information.

Same with Vaastu. It's not about energy,

it's about the 'spirit' of the house,

and the 'spirit' likes to sleep like you

do (and temple deities do), so don't

keep the lights on in the house all night

and give your living space a regular bath.

Yes, Sade Saati is supposed to be based on your

moon, but I haven't found that to be true. When

I take the Lagna as the 'head' and look at the

houses that way, I get a decent picture. Just like

the old temples are like a human body laying on

it's back (with the sanctum in the head, not the

heart), so are the houses' influence. I also have

a preference for the North Indian style chart

because it rotates like the horizon.

Here's an old chart showing the houses/rashi's

in the way they affect the body.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/ammasgull/2429091442/

You'd need to transpose the chart according

to your lagna/asc.

For example, last year when Mars went into my

12th (from ascendant), I ended up taking classes.

Mars (activity), 12th being institutions. When

Mars went retro, things came up that made me miss

classes. 12th house also governs losses, so

yes I missed classes, and last month I was

losing some money on bad Ebay purchases. Because,

my main computer that has the JJ software on it

is hard to get to in my room (crowded) and I had

stopped consulting it.

I'll finish up a draft of the Prashna Reader-chart

that I came up with a couple years ago. Sort of

the 'current planets-at-a-glance' like a calendar.

My original idea of magnets didn't work, but I

still have the large picture frame and will try

those computer-printable window decals to see

if they'll work. The background gives the

needed basic info (wait to you see it). I'm

curious to see if it helps others the way it helps

me to get a snapshot of my karmic-paying plan.

I'll get back to you on the Rahu and Ketu,

tom

Thanks for the laughs about the black dogs, Tom.

I believe that is what jyotishis do.

In my experience the classic lunar Sade Saati was right on the money,

to use an inappropriate gamblers' phrase. I just finished it last

year, and seven years can be loonnng time.

OM Amrtesvaryai Namah!

Namaskarams!

yes Max you are right, sade sati is when Saturn passes through the

houses (signs) surrounding and including Moon....3 signs to be

precise......

actually if you look closely at the page linked to, they are NOT

quoting lagnas....they are talking about Moon placements....just see

the quotation from the beginning of the reading: " Let’s see what

“SATURN†has got in its store for all 12 Rashis during its stay in

“LEO†- "

now...Rashi refers to the sign in which we find the MOON....so the

first rashi is the Moon sign...the second is the next sign and so

on...thus this reading is actually referring to MOON signs, NOT lagna

based houses.

hope that clears it up....

ah, i always wondered about that. Thanks for the info.

Unfortunately us Mac folks can't use the free program.

What you say about Saturn: as a Libra rising it is a friend planet

and yet it falls in my 12th house, so... it definitely gives plenty

of opportunities for letting go!

Thanks also to Tom for the links and info.
