Guest guest
Om Namah Shivaya, Shiva ettan, Is it in line with Amma's teachings that we should take it upon ourselves to tell others that we think they are wrong and overrated? In fact, Tom has met with no shortage of hostility and condemnation in this group in the past. Then what has it accomplished, if after receiving all this hostility he only continues to believe and say these things about Amma and the swamis and Her devotees? Has anyone's heart been opened? Has anyone come closer to Amma, or to true understanding of their own Self? There is no question in my mind that our brother Tom means well in his own way - if you look through the archives, you will see examples of him trying to help and serve others by providing videos or virtual satsangs. It's an understatement to say that I don't like the things he has to say about Amma's children, whether they wear orange or yellow or white or any color they want. I know how painful it is for you to read such statements. But just as we feel it is disrespectful to Amma to speak rudely about Her swamis or other devotees, it is also disrespectful to Amma to speak rudely of Her son Tom, whom I have no doubt She loves. Before we make accusations of backstabbing or otherwise question their motivation, before we say that someone should, in essence, shut up and go away, would not Amma want us to look into our own selves and witness our own ego reactions? Would She not want us to get past our senses of difference and simply be compassionate? She has said that anger is like an infected wound, and that we should not poke at it or press it. Guest guest
Aum Amriteswaryai Namaha Namaste to each group member. Tom when i responded to you, it was to express my own " egoic " reactions to the unkind words you spoke of Swamiji. When i read Swamiji's email, i found it to be an appropriate reminder that was delivered with a bit of humor. I just wanted to communicate that when it comes to Swamiji and the servants to the Servant, " they aren't heavy, they are our brothers " . And you too!. And to be honest i am one that did not know what the initials ONS stood for. I am very low tech. This holiday season i watched all three Lord of the Ring movies. I kept putting the characters as representing parts of the spiritual journey. I saw my ego in Gallum. Then a couple of weeks ago i read this; The Joy of Snow, by Elizabeth Goudge " We - cannot - understand - not yet - but - we can see how the more we lose our sense of separateness in the knowledge of the oneness of all living creatures, millions of small leaves on the single tree of life, the more we shall lose our sense of self-importance, and so be liberated from our self-pity, a bondage so horrible that I believe it can only bring us to a state not unlike that of Gallum, the dreadful creature Tolkein created, living alone in the dark, talking to himself, murmuring, " My precious, My Precious " . ( Me, Mine, Myself ) ( Even Amma can be turned into Gallum's quest for the ring) " But if that 'my precious' were to be the song of the leaves on the tree, each leaf delighting in all the others, there could be no love of self, no hatred and no sin, and one of the suffering that springs from sin. And since a tree has no voice, but the wind, and the leaves know it, they would soon know who it was who was singing their song with them and through them, and lifting and swinging them in the dance. If we can find a little of our oneness with all other creatures, and love for them, then I believe we are half-way towards finding God. " Another thing i find with email messaging is how easy it is for messages to become distorted because so much of the subtle nuances are lost. I hope you can read this correspondence with a slow, soft, Texas draw from the heart. We are truly blessed to have Amma as our teacher for we are all learning what it is to be in right relationship with others and to be a blessing to others as we journey on. As it has been said, " the only thing worst than having to say, i blew it, is to have to say it again " . May all be blessed marci **************Need a new ride?
