Guest guest
Yellow is the color of the planet Guru (Jupiter), also known as Brihaspati, the guru to the devas. Brihaspati is known to be free of all disease. I think I read somewhere that yellow has to do with killing germs. Foods with tumeric (ie, Indian yellow rice) will supposedly stay unspoiled longer than those without. There's an incident in one of the books, where I think a bird was injured by other birds, and Amma asked Nealu to bring some tumeric powder. After he brought pre-packaged tumeric powder, she said, " No, grind it fresh " . Amma then applied the powder to the bird's wounds, since it has anti-bacterial properties. Yellow is also the color of the tantric devi " Bagalamukhi " , known as " The Paralyzer " . Her mantra is supposed to paralyze or stop all things that are " bad " or inauspicious. But the average person shouldn't mess with tantric mantras, as the average person doesn't have the resolve to control it, or usually even the need. One of the meditation verses for the Lalita Sahasranaam describes Devi wearing yellow, while the others are about red. Are you sure it was tumeric? Have you seen actual tumeric powder to know it? Sure it wasn't sandalpaste or chandan clay (from a holy river)? Tumeric powder has a particular smell too. Sandalpaste comes in different grades/colors. tom Ammachi , " Julia Milin " <juliamilin wrote: > > I had a very lucid dream the other night getting Darshan from Amma in > which she painted my face with this yellow Turmeric powder. Guest guest
>Yellow is also the color of the tantric devi " Bagalamukhi " , known as > " The Paralyzer " . It is sacred to some aspects of Devi, for example used to paint the face in rites honoring the goddess Mariamma and other south Indian wrathful devis. This is what i thought of immediately in reading about your dream. It is supposed to cool her heat (though described as warming in Ayurveda, it is a potent anti-inflammatory). It's funny that the dream was identical to the Haldi pre marriage ceremony, and the powder is the same color as in the youtube video and other Haldi pictures I've seen. Amma's idea of a joke maybe because my boyfriend just broke up with me 2 weeks ago. Unless she was trying to comfort me. Either way, I consider the dream a huge blessing with definite instructions from her that I can't list here as to how to further my spiritual growth from here. It's amazing that she painted me with turmeric, a most amazing and potent member of the plant family....thank you to the devotee who posted the aryuvedic article with the David Frawley forward.....Namah Sivayah
