Guest guest
Hey all, I'm almost done with converting Sw. Amritaswarupananda's talks to digital but needed to hear from those who have his talks of Vol 3: Spirituality is a Big Smile and Vol 10: Smile Within/The Master Bows. It " appears " , as with Sw.P's talks that the ashram long ago, out-sourced the production of the cassettes (or were better done back then), then switched to in-house tapes with computer printed labels, and then most recently generic tapes with hand-written labels. The quality control has suffered as time has gone by. The ashram sent me copies of Big Swami's talks, except for #9 (out-of-stock?). The #4 they sent me was completely blank. Luckily, I happened to own a copy of that one. And it appears that Vols #3 and #10 ARE THE SAME TALK, but different versions, really belonging to the title for Vol. 10. The most complete, longest version of these talks, are on Vol 10. A good 15 minute difference each side. My #10 has a hand-written label and my #3 they sent had a computer label, though attached upside down. It's possible my #10's labels are vice-versa. If anyone has vol 3 and/or vol 10 of Big Swami's cassettes, would you mind checking them and letting me know if they are the same? Below is the opening lines of the ones they sent me. ASW 03A Spirituality is a Big Smile 1 " The head, we never brought the head along with us, you understand? When we came to this world, there was no head. I mean there was no ideas. " ASW 03B Spirituality is a Big Smile 2 " My humble salutations to all my brothers and sisters. So, we were talking about patience, and uh enthusiasm? " ASW 10A The Master Bows " My salutations to all my brothers and sisters. I have named this morning's talk as `The Master Bows Down to the Disciple' that is how I named this talk. " ASW 10B Smile Within " My humble salutations to all my brothers and sisters. So, we were talking about patience, and uh enthusiasm? " Also, if you have Tape 33 of Sw PARAMATMANANDA's talks with the older ORANGE labels, I'd like to know if the sides are longer than about 30-33 minutes, since mine is a modern generic copy on a 30 minute cassette. The original may be longer. Of if you have the book version that contains it, I can give you the text of the endings of what I have. I'd ask the ashram, but my contact at MAC is terrible with communication, and surely busy with other tasks. I heard that none of the talks were available on CD this tour, sorry. I'm guessing they were busy. I had sent them in bundles of 10 so I had hoped at least the first 10-20 would've been available, but oh well. Thanks, tom
