I asked Amma about this in Michigan, and part of her answer was to ask, as

you have, whether I had had any personal experience. I said, “Not

one-to-one, but close friends did.” I might have added to my response, “If

your father is molesting your sister, doesn’t it concern you even if it is

not your direct personal experience?” Another part of my question was

whether these gurus are enlightened, yet undeveloped in certain areas, or

not yet enlightened. Amma responded that any guru who is misbehaving in the
