First feeding ceremony?

I really doubt that M.A. Center is answering email right now and I can't get to

San Ramon or

Michigan to ask, so I thought I'd put this out there, just to see if any of you

might know...

What happens if your baby is too young for the feeding ceremony when Amma comes

soon

after the birth, but will be nine months old (or eight months, if I was able to

get to the west

coast, which is doubtful) by the time Amma is due to return to the U.S.? Does

anyone know

if, under these circumstances, she performs this ceremony for a slightly older

baby and/or

one who has already eaten some solids?

Thanks!

Blessings,

Iswari

Hi Iswari:

I know some who have kept their babies drinking liquids till Amma

could feed them, till almost 9 months, which would be almost the same

as is your case..... I fed mine at DC this time at 5 months.

at any rate, see if you can get this question asked by Amma this time

by a friend who can phrase the question with the same zeal that you

would have asked.

if come summer you can get your baby fed first by Amma, it is indeed

special. as a parent, you will really feel it when it happens.

Congratulations on your newborn!

Kind Regards

Manoj

I have seen Amma doing " first feeding " for babies who probably had a

full set of teeth by the time it was done. Not to worry. Just ask

to have it done.

The baby is blessed to be fed by Amma, at any age.

Her grace and affection will take care and not to worry.

Dayamrita also told me that I should go ahead and ask. I asked last

night and Amma said yes! She will be doing the ceremony for him in

Boston. I'm so happy!

Also, I am defending my dissertation at 11:30am today! Prayers

appreciated...

Mary Ann, thanks for asking. Except for a few extremely technical

statistical questions, it went very, very well. But between that, my

father's being in and out of the ER (complications from MS) and our

two cats dying within two weeks of each other....these have been

stressful days. Thanks to Amma's grace, I did have darshan after my

defense, but not without many tears. I was so overwhelmed I couldn't

even stay in the hall very long. I'm looking forward to the retreat in

MA, hope it'll be more mellow. Will anyone else from here be there?

Blessings,

Iswari

He was so good, Iswari!! And looked so cute looking around & above the

peetham. You all looked great in your green-themed clothes too.

Still amazed that my first sight of your darling was from following Amma

while She was leaving the hall one day, and She stopped to play with him...

I looked through someone's arms, and there was Raphael's elbow in Her mouth.

I was thinking " Oh what a cute baby! " and then realized, OH! It's Iswari &

Kristopher's baby.

much love (and much more grounded now),

Prashanti
