In answer to this question, Amma has said that " you are not the body,

not the mind; you are the Supreme Self; but that this has to be felt,

not just verbalized. "

When I look in the mirror, often I say " Amma, if I am not the body,

not the mind, not what appears in the mirror, than who am I? "

more on this from www.mooji.org :

What arises in this body as I?

The question 'Who am I?' must take you to the I-awareness. This is the

intuition 'I am.' Hold onto this intuition only. Let your attention

sink inside it. You need not debate or argue with any thought or

sensation you are perceiving. Make no attempt to work them out. Simply

observe but do not follow them. Stay put!

So important is this question, this questing for the root of the

I-sense in us that I will endeavour to lay stress on it over and over

again. Solving the mystery of the 'I' is the master key to the secret

of the Universe and its perceiver. Therefore I trust you will

appreciate just how important it is for you to understand this

question fully, and the way to use it in the light of the inquiry. I

don't wish that you engage in this process wrongly. The inquiry 'who

am I?' should not be used as a mantra or a mechanical task. The

question could be asked once before the attention plunges deep

inwardly to find the source of the thoughts and more importantly, the

thinker. Find the thinker, don't think the thinker. Locate it in

silent introspection.

It must be experienced in the Heart, as your own living truth. Who am

I? This question is not appeased by any answer. It is enough that you

understand the question itself, stay with the question. Inquire into

its meaning. Search out that one, that apparent entity that arises

intimately as I, the 'me,' the describable one. " I am disturbed, I

like..., I want..., I don't want... " - this I. So in my words I say,

it's merely an assumption. If you inspect deeply and with persistence,

see if it is found as a 'fact.' What is I? What arises in this body as

I? And is this I personal? Is it tangible? Is it real?

dear beloved brothers and sisters and darling children of AMMA,please be so kind

to let temba share his experience on this topic.what he has noticed is that when

he crys devotional tears to AMMA ,or crys to AMMA on behalf of the suffering

world ,he forgets about the body,or the mind,or even the heart for that

matter.he has noticed that the more his ATTENTION is on THE LORD, or serving the

LORDS beloved children, this thing called the body is forgotten.in other

words, dear beloved family, when GOD,LOVE,AMMA is contempated and then the

experience of THAT is put into action, the BODY is lost in the BLISS of HER

LOVE....when AMMA speaks about the body SHE is also speaking about the ego,the

mind the individuality that believes that it is seperate from the whole.when we

experience HER LOVE, we are experinecing at least in that moment ,the WHOLE ,or

the GREATER BODY.the BODY that is beyond the limited body(me,i,ego, etc.) this

GREATER BODY IS KNOWN AS DIVINE LOVE,GOD,THE SELF,BUDDAH ,CHRIST,KRISNA,or

whatever fits our dispositions. tmba prays with all of his heart that he has

served you all effectively and that our beloved AMMA is pleased .i love you.
