Hurricane Felix

Namah Shivaya, everyone,

As an addition to this week's prayer list, perhaps we could offer

sincere prayers for the abatement of Hurricane Felix and the safety of

those who could be affected by it.

Felix is currently a Category 4 storm, having developed quite rapidly,

and it is entirely likely that it could strengthen to a catastrophic

Category 5.

Its rainfall could trigger landslides and flash flooding in Honduras

similar to Hurricane Fifi of 1974 (which killed 8,000 people).

Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, Belize, and Mexico are also at risk

of flooding and mudslides.

Currently Felix seems likely to brush Honduras on its way to the

Yucatan peninsula. Once it crosses this peninsula, southern Texas may

be at risk.

Other potential tropical cyclone systems are coming across the

Atlantic Ocean, and elsewhere in the world Tropical Storm Henriette

has caused six deaths on the west coast of Mexico and Typhoon Fitow

could hit the Tokyo area of Japan this week.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina two years ago, Amma wrote the

following:

" Amma still sees dark clouds enveloping the world. Only the cool

breeze of sincere and innocent prayers can lift these clouds and turn

them into a shower of Divine Grace. Remember, only Divine Grace will

help us. "

(The entire message from Amma can be found at

http://www.amritapuri.org/teachings/message/katrina.php ).
