Guest guest
I've been playing with my audio software and some trial versions. I've uploaded these files for people to check out. The edited versions seem to lose some warmth with the clarification, which I hope to correct with a more extensive graphic EQ later. They also seem to sound better through headphones than my laptop. These are from tape #30 Amma's Vedanta. The original was really loud and distorted on the first side. They're AAC, so you'll need RealPlayer or Quicktime. tapesample2 tapesample1 mostly dry edit (sample 1 with only some peaks taken down) http://public.box.net/tomgull86806 Swami P's talks are quite serious and hard-core, which I'm guessing why they fell out of style with devotees. I was exposed to them from the beginning, from my first Amma satsang. Each program was started with 10-15 minutes of his tapes. While listening, I noticed how certain people in the room paid attention, and other's minds wandered off. Some don't like preaching, others come exactly for it. I think if Dayamrita used his influence to ask the satsangs to include 10 minutes of his tape at the beginning of satsangs, more people would be exposed to his experiences and wisdom. tom
Guest guest
Swami Paramatmananda has his fans, like me. I missed him when he was actually at the MA Center but I enjoy the books of his talks. I'm excited to be able to hear his speaking voice in what you have posted, Tom. Several people who were living at the center when Swami P was there have expressed gratitude to me for the level and amount of teaching he did while at the MA Center. In talks at the ashram Ramaadevi used material that was introduced to her in a talk or talks by Swami P and which she subsequently studied further. When I become aware that one of the inmates to whom we write has had exposure to East Indian spirituality, I send them the books of Swami P's Talks. They are wonderful books to read as you awaken or before sleep because the talk in written form is short and gives you a nugget of wisdom to appreciate and contemplate.
