Guest guest
http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/programmes/heart_and_soul.shtml Gurus in Modern India In the second of two programme looking at gurus in modern India, Heart and Soul hears from the devotees about why they feel the need to have a spiritual guide. From being hugged by their guru, to learning yoga and listening to self-help cds, followers talk about how their lives have been changed and their illnesses cured. India's economy is one of the fastest growing in the world, and yet at the same time there's been a sharp increase in the number of middle classes in the country turning to religion and gurus for advice and support. Critics claim this rise shows a deep insecurity and lack of independence among Indian people, but followers tell Renu Agal their God-like gurus provide inspiration and comfort in their increasingly stressful lives. ______________________________\ ____ Need a vacation?
