Lord Ganesha stars in new movie; Hindu prayer in US Senate

INDIA, June 22, 2007: The movie " My Friend Ganesha, " a

combination of live actors and animation about to be

released in India, revolves around a family of four

and their maid. The boy, an only child, is often

lonely. One day he saves a mouse from drowning and

brings it home. The maid explains that the mouse is

Lord Ganesha's mount, and tells him the stories of

Ganesha. During a Ganesha festival, the boy brings the

God home with him, and together they solve the various

problems of the family for the eleven days of the

Rajan Zed, a Hindu chaplain living in Nevada, is

scheduled to give a Hindu prayer at the July 12

opening of United States Senate in Washington, DC. It

is believed this will be the first time any Hindu

prayer will have been delivered in the US Senate since

its formation in 1789. Usually the Senate Chaplain

delivers the opening prayer, but sometimes guest

chaplains are invited from all over the country to

read the prayer. According to a Senate Chaplain Office

communique, the purpose of the opening prayer is to

seek God on behalf of, and for the Senators and the

prayer should affirm our rich heritage as a Nation

" under God " .
