Devotees try as they might to spare her any extra (Ha Ha) pain. Amma's organization is run by people and we are all human. My 1st retreat with my daughter a devotee/organizer tried to tell me and my daughter to move to another spot, but it was perfect and it was my 1st time and I had an injured leg which I could extend under the stage. Well she just would not stop suggesting that I move. I felt (ego felt) attacked and hurt. This same person (Angel) most lovingly folded my sari for me at my daughters wedding (by Amma). I personally have found that a lot of STUFF comes up and OUT when we're around Amma...that is how she works on us, the crap bubbles up to the surface and you can see it and deal with it, espically around a Satguru such as Amma. I appreciate it everytime the pearls of self realization bubble up when I'm around Amma. Newcomers experience it for yourself, words cannot explain the gift Amma has given the world. I would also ask the group to remember Anni, the power of your views and words could also help this lovely girl heal and live! To Anni, I fast for you and honor you in prayer daily, I love you, I love you all and I need your love too. Serve Selflessly Whatever merit is acquired by one, through pilgrimmages and from bathing in the Sacred Waters extending to the seven seas, cannot be equal to even one thousandth part of the merit derived from partaking the water with the Guru's Feet are washed. Maybe do something differently? Like actually be what the Guru says we are? Which is not " other " than Her. No different from the Guru. Not different from yourself as you already are. And just as imperfect and ordinary. And without all the self-righteousness of those who are privileged to be " spiritual " on the inside of the group, as opposed to those who are " different " and " not spiritual " and on the outside? Consider it. Right where you are. No different than the Guru. Or different from any one else either. With no need to go earn anything, prove anything, attain anything. And no means or technique to do so anyway. There never was a technique for this. There are no words to express what we are meant to give the world when this is realized. We don't go to her because we are selfish or faulty, but because it is our nature. I realized rather deeply last week while sitting with her that Amma doesn't love *me*, rather Amma loves. We can put ourselves in front of the furnace or not, but it burns either way. The trouble with realizing that there was never anything to do, never anything to change, is that the realization tends to come after so much was (seemingly) done, and so much (seemingly) changed. We go through a process, only to realize there was never a process. It's a good reminder, but I think it means two different things before and after awakening. " Not different from yourself as you already are. And just as imperfect and ordinary. " Not different as we already are indeed, but I think there can't be judgments about privilege and spirituality. Not different than we already are includes these things. The trick isn't to change the behavior, but to awaken to Truth, and change perception. Chop wood and carry water, as they say. We can pretend and expect, and with grace, anything can happen. Likewise, we can sit in Truth and realize absolutely nothing. Amma says to pray to god *and* try to plug up the hole in your sinking boat. Of course, that could just mean to pray to Amma while receiving her darshan that you won't feel called to go for darshan again!
