Guest guest
Wow, Sweta! Such a lot of good information. My situation is that I am in Maine, I am the sole support of my family (husband is retired and suffers from Asperger's) and still have 3 smaller children at home. We are borderline poverty level. When I don't work, we don't eat or pay taxes, etc. When the time is right for me to go see Amma, it will happen. I don't worry about things like that, I trust in Godde to guide me. I had a vivid dream about Amma about 8 months ago. I didn't know who she was at the time, just some rather short, middle-aged, dark-haired woman, with a big smile, who hugged me and filled me with joy. It was very powerful and the feeling of joy remained with me for some time afterwards. I will be looking up some of the resources you suggested. I listened to the Bhajan clips and loved them. I have always had a love for Indian music, both northern ad southern and never had any problem understanding Hinduism, with all its permutations.I received a mantra, many, many years ago, from a transcendental meditation teacher-I guess it is still " good " to use. haha-not expired anyway. The clips on youtube are good also, I spent about and hour watching them yesterday. Thanks again for your help > > Dear Mary, > > It does seem that you have some real insight into Amma, even through a brief TV contact. Stranger things have happened ... there are so many amazing stories of Amma blessing people. She's a true saint. > > You may enjoy reading one Amma's biographies for sale through Amma's Books at Amma.org. One has an Indian flavor. While " Amma, Healing the Heart of the World, " was written by a western woman, Judith Cornell. > > To read about Amma's teachings, I encourage you to read any & all of the Awaken Children book series. Some are considered good for westerners, & you could e-mail Amma's Books to ask which ones. > > The Chants CD, (brown cover), has Sanskrit prayers/chants, as well as the Mahisasuramardini Stotram. This is a bhajan, (devotional song), sung each morning at Amma's Indian ashram. My first Amma CD was the one recoreded in Assisi, which is quite good. The 1988 Part 1 World Tour audio tape has some very good songs, & the 1987 World Tour tape also looks good. Amma's Books has lots of on-line music clips. > > The Chants & Meditation video is very good, & gives the bonus of a short overview of Amma's life. People have good things to say about River of Love. You may be able to rent, Darshan, The Embrace " at your local video store, or buy it on-line. It was given a Cannes Film Festival award, & follows Amma through a recent tour of north India & 5th. birthday celebration. > > I'm also a mother & was raised Catholic. The biographies tell a bit about Amma's childhood experience with a Catholic church & priest. After 4-1/2 years, it still seems amazing that God has blessed me with Amma. Words cannot describe the grace. You are very fortunate to feel this connection. > > Whenever you can meet Amma, it's my sense that it's worth any extra effort. Amma also gives mantras for how you worship God. She imbues the mantra with spirtual energy, to help you along your spiritual path. > > Many of us can e-mail our favorite on-line video clips of Amma to you. > > Sweta > > Thank you adriane-I am very bummed that I have to work when she is going to be in > Boston. However, I am reminded of the words of Jesus to Thomas " Blessed are you who > have seen and believed, but blessed are those also who have NOT seen and yet believe " . Guest guest
Dear Mary, " I had a vivid dream about Amma about 8 months ago. I didn't know who she was at the time, " Sounds as if Amma is your Guru I also had an experience about 13 years before learning of Amma, which involved a woman dressed in long white, draped clothing. At the time, I thought it was Mary, now beleive it was most likely Amma. Sweta Ready for the edge of your seat? Check out tonight's top picks on TV.
