Hello to all. I watched 20/20 the other night and saw the segment about Amma. I

was

powerfully moved by it. My background is Catholic and I have always felt touched

by the

Mother of God. I am not sure why Amma moves me so much, but perhaps it is

because she is

the manifestation of the Mother of All? I studied Hinduism in college and have a

fairly good

background understanding. As I get older, I feel more and more in tune with what

Amma is

teaching. I welcome any help on this new path. I live in Maine, have 6 children

(3 grown) and

teach music privately. I am 55 in June.

Welcome to the group! While some on this list have conflicting attitudes and

ideas at time, you'll find that this listing is like a big Amma family. =)

Don't be afraid to ask questions, share experiences, or ask for prayers and

such in times of need. We all seem to be here for the good and the bad, just as

Amma undoubtedly wound want us to be.

Jai Ma!

Thanks, Mary Ann, Kate and all- I see that Amma has so many interesting things

on her

website. I wanted to buy " Messages from Amma " at Borders, but they were out. Can

you

suggest anything from her website that would be a good general overview of her

teachings? I also wanted to buy a CD of Bhajans. I really know nothing, other

than this

woman has reached out and grabbed my heart for some reason.

It depends on when-I teach during the summer, and also work at an arts camp-but

I am

planning on a trip to Boston during that month at some point

What and where do you teach? (or did you already tell us?)

I teach music at my home in Standish, and will be teaching right down the street

at

Schoolhouse Arts Center (theatre arts, crafts, sewing). I see she will be in

Boston on days that

the Arts camp is running, and it would not be very loving of me [;-(....to leave

my job and

head off there, although I would love to go. >

Oh well. If you're up for a little travelling, she'll be in the US for a

couple of months. Many of us travel to see her. I live in Iowa and even

though she comes here, we've gone to Boston and Toronto the past few years.

Also San Ramon, California and Santa Fe, NM in other years. Some people do

the whole tour. Schedule here:

Hello Mary!

It's great to hear how this story on 20/20 reached others. Welcome to our

group! I was also raised Catholic and like so many of us Catholics... a seeker.

Quite unexpectedly, Amma strengthened my faith through direct experiences that

have been full of her divine nature. Though I do not really practice any set

religion now, peple of all faiths and backgrounds are drawn to her-including

priests and nuns. Amma brings many different things to different people.

Most of all, find a way to be in her presence this summer since she is not

always accessible to us. And be with her as often and long as you can.

Thanks for sharing with us. We are so happy to have you join with us.

in Amma,

adriane

Thank you adriane-I am very bummed that I have to work when she is going to be

in

Boston. However, I am reminded of the words of Jesus to Thomas " Blessed are you

who

have seen and believed, but blessed are those also who have NOT seen and yet

believe " . I

believe in what and who Amma is, although I may not get a chance to see her

right away.

She has already affected me even from this great distance.

you're in CT or MA, no? so why not hop a train to New

York for the devi bhava on Friday night July 13th..

the New York program hall is across the street from

Penn Stn.

And if you've got your passport to enter the Great

White North, can line up a ride, or don't mind forking

over the insane cost of gas (I'm betting on $4.00 US a

gallon/$1.25 CDN a litre by July!).. the Toronto

retreat is also over a weekend.

and of course there are always the standard bovine

feces excuses you can trot out if you need to book a

few days off work to go see Amma: death in family,

jury duty, Asian flu, injury caused by falling off

bike... i've actually used that last one, though I

haven't ridden a bicycle since the summer between 8th

and 9th grade!

I don't think it sets a very good example to encourage her to lie, but

hopefully she's mature enough to realize that not all Amma people are like

that.
