The ISKCON building at Secunderabad that has been served demolition notice as a part of road-widening works. Express News Service First Published : 18 Nov 2008 09:39:00 AM IST Last Updated : 18 Nov 2008 01:53:10 PM IST HYDERABAD: On the District Collectorate’s part, it is just bureaucratic logic to demolish a structure in order to widen the roads for facilitating smooth travel. But, it is a massive blow to the belief system of the devotees with which they have been associated for the past 30 years. The structure in the eye of the storm happens to be the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) building located near the Sangeet theatre in the city.District Collector Naveen Mittal served notice to the ISKCON authorities that the structure would be demolished along with 16 other structures in the district for road-widening.ISKCON chairman Sahadeva Dasa, at a press conference held today, said, “Sentiments of thousands of devotees world wide are visibly hurt as the collectorate is trying to acquire the land in an illogical and partisan manner.’’ Wiping out such a community facility, which was a centre for cultural, social, educational and spiritual activities, was not right on the part of the Government, he remarked. When asked if they were allotted the same extent of land, Sahadeva replied in the negative, saying relocation and proceeding legally were two different issues altogether.“ISKCON is against the Government’s arrogance and high-handedness for displacing the society,’’ he thundered. Other ISKCON members too deplored the treatment meted to the society. However, the collectorate officials, when approached, maintained that they would proceed with the land acquisition for widening of the Inner Ring Road from the YMCA to Chordline Bridge, Secunderabad.Collector Naveen Mittal told ‘ENS’ on the telephone, “The collectorate has been serving notices to different parties, as a part of the road-widening process. So far, there has been no communication from the ISKCON and the proposal of land allocation will be considered once they approach us.’’ Resenting the move, ISKCON authorities have called for a protest to be staged at the District Collectorate on November 19 at 9:30 am.Comments While hindus take a passive approach, the Christian rulers of the land (Sonia Gandhi, YSR) will continue their relentless attacks. Until we throw away their yoke, this is going to keep happening. The whole congress raj is worse than British - they were racist but at least not such big religious bigots - this is similar to Mohammad Gazni and Ghori destroying temples. If this was a masjid, there would have been worldwide repurcussions with the so-called secularists crying foul. By Rajeev Rastogi 11/19/2008 9:22:00 PM hindus targeted, in AP, a jusuist CM, a romon catholic congress leader, a firm support from west and vatican there is a great churning and hugely funded missioneries, who are hand in glove in Hindu bashing, it is sad to notice the the telugu culture is being liquidated, with alians faith, the tirupati is now being worshpped by chrisatian with tilak, Rs 1000 crores used with gold on the walls, hindu temple lands were proteced by muslims rulers but now the congress with christian rulers are selling temple lands, and protecting muslim and christian lands. By s kumar 11/19/2008 6:26:00 PM These are all the symptoms of this demonaic nature of this Christian government. If the so called Hindus still keep quiet, they would see the end of their cultural heritage within few years. Oh leaders of a great culture & heritage, this is wakeup call for you By murthy 11/19/2008 1:53:00 PM This is India our temples our gods are made joke of but had it been a masjid or anything about their prophet they would have created havoc but we so called hindus have no interest in our religion and are just still Ghulam to western world we are just aping them.
