Guest guest
"Swastika as a word is rooted in the sanskrt word Su which means good or auspicious as in SUbhadra, sister of Lord Krishna. It is also the same word as Sudarshan=auspicious Vision and it is the same as Sudarshan symbolically ie the discus or circle. Symbolically the Swastika is continuosly turning like a wheel and its four arms represent that movement. The exact literal meaning of swastika is Su=Good or auspicious and Astika=to beThus Swastika means "To be Auspicious or Good."In English we ask people,"How are you?" In traditional formal Hindi it is," Swasti He?" Are you good?"So despite the ignorance in the West regarding the Swastika it is an extremely ancient symbol of goodness. It is still very popular and commonly used by billions around the world. Native traditionalists recognize that 12 years of abuse by one group of fanatics can never replace thousands of years of culture. Thus it is still widely used amongst Buddhists, Hindus, American Indians and others. Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Search.
