For example, there is reference to 'vishuvat' in 'shakdhuma' by Dirghatamas. A clear reference but what constellation does 'Shakadhuma' refer to?     Talageri's chrnology has no basis. he knows neither Sanskrit, astonomy, nor archaeology, nor any other science. He has just picked up a few names and related them to his arbitrary chronology to derive support for OIT.     This is research by name-dropping. It is a serious injustice to mention his name in the same breath as Narahari Achar's.  N.S. Rajaram  - S. I think Prof. Achar has rendered a remarkable service by the producing the skymap of this event. Rigveda is full of astronomical metaphors. The challenge is to unravel the metaphors. namaskaram. kalyanaraman On Sun, Apr 19, 2009 at 6:55 AM, N.S.Rajaram <nsrajaram wrote:     A useful study, but far from definitive. Among other things it is to be questioned if it is appropriate to identify Canis Major and Canis Minor with Yama's dogs. (I am unfamiliar with the passage.) The nomenclature is much too recent and it is not safe to assume that the Rigveda had the same in mind.     Once again, the problem is not with the mathematics or astronomy but the identification and interpretation.  N.S.
