Due to to the kind invitation of Prof. Kikuko Hirafuji of Kokugakuin University and support by her Department (Prof. Nobutaka Inoue) and her University, we will be able to meet there. As I said, it is a splendid institution with a must-see Shinto museum. One topic will be " religious education. " Apart from current problems in many countries of teaching religion/myths, this can also include traditional teaching (and its practices). For example, we could include shamanic training and the like, or even, in the margin, traditional Vedic training (learning by heart the texts and its effects on the mind...) Another topic may be " myths & dreams. " We have not yet decided on the latter. Please suggest other topics. I now write to ask you: (1) Please me me know (off list: <witzel) whether you are interested to attend. (2) Please let me know what you would like to talk about, -- also on topics not mentioned above. Preferably, they should be *comparative* in nature. A summary would be due by April 1. Members in Japan (and those rare individuals who can pay their own way!) could of course also attend as participants without speaking. (3) As mentioned, our finances are quite restricted this year. So, not everyone who would like to attend (especially from overseas) can expect to get funding from us. Nevertheless: Looking forward to your response!
