Another paper on Hindu Astronomy - Arcaheological evidence based - Indian Journal of History of Science - INSA -Indian National Science Academy, Sep., 2008...original discovery.

Report on NSI Conference and Money Mela 2008.

 

 

The event had a following three-day program.21/09/200811:00 AM: Inauguration ceremony of the 92nd Annual Conference of the Numismatic Society of India, BHU, Varanasi took place at Abhay Prashal Auditorium, Indore. The event commenced in the presence of Dr. P.N. Kavathhekar Vice Chancellor Vikram University. The event was graced by many delegates from NSI and ICS and the people taking the stage were Prof Dr. Chandrashaker gupta President ICS, Prof. Dr. J.P Singh President NSI, Prof. Dr. P.N. Singh General Secretary NSI, Dr.H.B.Maheshwari Convener, Indian national Trust for Art Culture and Heritage. Gwaliar, Mr. Prashant Kulkarni, Trustee ICS, Prof. Dr. S.K. Bhatt. This event was presided by Mr.C.S. Gupta and was conducted by Mr. Girish Sharma Local Secretary, NSI and Regional Secretary, Indian Coin Society and Mr. Ashok Singh Thakur.The event began with lighting of the lamp, after which all the respectable people addressed the event with there thoughts and words of wisdom. After this there were Dr. Praful Thakur, Dr.H.B.Maheshwari Mr. Pradeep Vankar and the Souvenir released five books with some news- letters in the event. After this the coin exhibit was opened for the local community, which drew a large crowd on the start of the exhibition. There was an art exhibit by Mr. K.C. Sharma, which also attracted a lot of art lovers, and the exhibit had valued paintings by the artist, which were to be auctioned off. 3:00 PM: Seminar on Coinage of M.P. at Holkar Hall commenced which was conducted by Prof. Dr. P.N. Singh General Secretary NSI in which 25 of the renowned scholars from all over India took part and presented there papers on coinage of M.P.6:00 PM: Todywala Auctions at Abhay Prashal Auditorium started with a wide gathering of delegates and local coin collectors enthusiastic to get new coins to there collection. The coin collection auctioned off by the company was having variety of historic Indian and foreign coins. There was one collector who took near about 12 lacks of coins. In this event paintings by Mr. K.C.Sharma were auctioned to the local public.22/09/200811:00 AM To 5:00 PM: Seminar on paper reading at Holkar Hall took place in which there was an academic sessions which was presided over by Dr. Chandrashekhar Gupta, Retired Professor & Head Dept. of A.I.H.C. & Archaeology, Nagpur University.6:00 PM: Prize distribution ceremony & Gala Dinner was scheduled at Abhay Prashal Auditorium. The chief guests taking the chair in this event were Vice chancellor Dr. Bharat Chhaparwal, Smt. Malini Gaud wife of Late Shri Lakshmansingh Gaud Former minster M.P. and Smt. Sumitra Mahajan. Mr. Girish Sharma Local Secretary, NSI and Regional Secretary, Indian Coin Society conducted the event. In this prizes were given out to the exhibitors. Mr. Ashok Thakur wont the Gold medal, R.C. Thakur won Silver, Major Gupta Silver, Neelkamal Maheshwari, Dhawal Sharma, Vipin Bhargava, Sachin Verma, Manas Khanna including 35 people won medals and rest participation certificates were given. There was a felicitation ceremony after the prize distribution in which honorable scholars felicitated were Dr. Raja Reddy, Prof. Dr. Samresh Bandhyopadhyaya, Prof. Dr. Jai Prakash Singh, Prof. Dr. Paras Nath Singh, Dr. Amiteshwar Jha, Shri Devendra Handa, Shri Prafull Thakkar, Shri Kishore Jhunjhunwala they were given shawl and letters of appreciation for there work. In the end an award was announced in the name of Late Shri Lakshmanshing Gaud for outstanding scholar was given to Dr.S.K. Bhatt.After this ceremony all the chief guest took a walk to through the exhibits and learned about the wonderful world of coins and how the collectors got them and expressed there sincere appreciation. There was a live orchestra which kept the event live with music and with that gala dinner commenced.23/09/200811:00 AM to 3:00 PM: the local schools visited the exhibits and during this time the students were exposed to a world of history and knowledge opened by these coin collection. It was a wonderful sight to see these young children take so much interest in coins and how they were made and discovered. This encouraged us to prepare for such an event again so that coin collection and be taken up as hobbies by many.4:00 PM: Valedictory function was the concluding program of the event. In this function all the delegates took part and Dr.H.B.Maheshwari Convener, Indian national Trust for Art Culture and Heritage, took the stage. Gwaliar, Mr. Prashant Kulkarni Trustee ICS, Prof. Dr. S.K. Bhatt, Prof. Dr. Samresh Bandhyopadhyaya, Prof. Dr. J.P Singh President NSI. There were certificates of appreciation distributed to the organizers and volunteer who worked relentless day and night to make the event a grand success. Er.Manas khanna, Er.Preetam gupta, Sikandar Nachan, Meharban Singh, Dhawal Sharma, Er.kalyan raman, Er. Japan Bhatt, Er.chetan mahajan were some of the young minds who put their efforts and in this event. After this Mr. Girish Sharma gave final speech and conducted the event to its end. After this visits to Omkareshwar/Mandu were arranged as per request.To sum up this event had over 100 competitors and they displayed there priced possession to the locals. The best possession displayed was by Mr.Girish Sharma in which for the very first time in India there were frames designed with custom lighting system. He had his collection in non-competitive category. For the very first time in India Reserve Bank of India presented there stall in such and exhibition where the released coins about to come in the market to the local collectors. There was a stall by a local bank in which new currency was distributed to people visiting the exhibition. Archeological survey of India brought there stall with lots of books and art effects to distribute to the locals. The location chosen for this event was one of the best places and centrally located place of Indore. And all the delegates were given best residing facility with 24 hrs Shaffer driven car to bring them to the event and take them to local places. The organizers provided the best food facility and it was based on the local theme of the state MALWA. The food given was mouth watering and had a different variety all three days.This event has set a new threshold for the next event and the events after that to provide such a facility and a successful management so that event is such a grand success. The team of Mr. Girish Sharma and his Engineers made this event a shining gala event.
