Guest guest
Hello all, Based on comparing architectural styles of temples in Orissa and that of Angkor, the similarities in the two lead me to speculate that there is Kalinga influence on Angkor, and not so much South Indian (Pallava or Chola) influence on the Khmer kingdom. Could anyone point me to any references that either confirm or refute this speculation? If this has been discussed before, please point me to the thread. If this subject is inappropriate for this forum, please respond via e-mail. Thanks much. Dinesh

In fact, a parallel is drawn between Orissa and Cambodia that both of them have come out of the Saivaite effect at almost same time to create world renowned Vishnu temples, the temple of Angkor wat in Cambodia and the temple of Lord Jagannath at Puri in Orissa. Hope this helps, Kishore patnaik
