Guest guest
Dear all, I invite a discussion on the word Ibhya which has been of much debate. Ibha means elephant and hence, Ibhya is one who owns elephants (as servants) The literary meaning of Ibhya is (to be rich by ) having lots of servants. The RV praises the Fire God as eating up forests since he is the king of Ibhyas (since he has lots of servants, he could clear the forests) Here, it is very interesting that this word is used as people other than brahmins by asoka. (ibbha). By the above reference in Rv, it could mean that Ibhya could simply mean an agriculturist. (peasants) regards, Kishore patnaik -- Love is a fruit in season at all times, and within the reach of every hand.~:~ Mother Theresa ~:~
