Dr. Dilip Chakrabarti, professor of South Asian archaeology at the

Cambridge

University, needs no introduction to students of Indian archaeology. His

views are often original and thought-provoking, and always cogently

articulated. He has authored many books, the last of which are _The Oxford

Companion to Indian Archaeology: The Archaeological Foundations of Ancient

India_ (Oxford University Press, 2006) and a polemical study, _The Battle

for Ancient India, an Essay in the Sociopolitics of Indian Archaeology_

(Aryan Books International, 2008).
