Dear list members,

 

I am preparing a translation of the karmavipAka section in mAdhavAcArya's

parAzaramAdhavIya (vol.2, 2, pp. 205-278 in Islamapurkar's edition).

 

Much of mAdhava's argument is based on a single verse referred to as just an

anonyous saying (vacana). None of the two editors (Tarkalankara (1899),

Islamapurkar (1893-1919)) identifies the verse. It reads like this (in H-K):

 

pUrvajanmakRtaM pApaM vyAdhirUpeNa bAdhate / tacchAntir auSadhair dAnair

japahomArcanAdibhiH // (Islampurkar 2, 2, p.273; Tarkalankar 2, p.525).

 

From mAdhava's subsequent discussion it seems that the saying belongs to

" cikitsA " or a cikitsA work.

 

Have any of you come accross this verse or do you know its identity?
