Guest guest
I am confused: some friends from Maharashtra and Gujarat insist that the word 'Kriti' should be pronounced as 'Kruti'; much the same way as 'Rishi' is pronounced (by them) as 'Rushi'...what do the experts have to say to this? Pray, enlighten... Many thanks. Smarth
Guest guest
Dear Smarth, Jay Jinendra Both pronunciations are right. For instance, the word Vrshabha is pronounced as Vrishabh by those who speak Khadi Boli and live in North India. As Vrushabh by those who live in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Karnataka. And Vrashabh by those who live in Eastern UP and Bihar. Orthographically, the word is the same. But pronunciation is regional. So Sanskrit, Sanskrut and Samskrita are all correct pronunciations. Not to worry. best regards, M 2009/8/16 Smarth Bali <smarth_bali > > > I am confused: some friends from Maharashtra and Gujarat insist that the > word 'Kriti' should be pronounced as 'Kruti'; much the same way as 'Rishi' > is pronounced (by them) as 'Rushi'...what do the experts have to say to > this?
