Guest guest
Hi altogether,  I want to write a Diploma-work about recitations of sanskrit hymns from a musicological point of view;  do you know relevant books or information about that topic, especially concerning musical aspects of such renderings ?  thanks in advance for your hints  Bhagwan Frank
Guest guest
Dear Frank, in the Matheson Library at Monash University Clayton Australia there is a book called " Veda Recitation in Varanasi " , by Wayne Howard. Do a search of the Monash Uni Catalogue http://www.lib.monash.edu.au/ using the words " Veda Recitation " using the 'Title (first words)' option to get its full title etc. It explains the function of the 'udaata' etc. and also includes a few Vedic hymns printed with the traditional Western method of presenting musical notation.
