Guest guest
Dear members, & nbsp; I am writing on behalf of the Association of Himalayan Yoga Meditation Societites International, headquartered in Rishikesh, India. This organisation is founded and led by Swam Veda Bharati (www.swamiveda.org), an internationally renowned authority on yoga and meditation - please see & nbsp;the review of his book on Yoga Sutras of Patanjali provided below. & nbsp; We are looking for a research assistant to work directly under Swami Veda Bharati. Swami Veda is currently engaged in several writing projects and is in need of someone conversant with the field and modern research methods and who would enjoy working in the fields of yoga, meditation and Indian philosophy. & nbsp; This would be a good opportunity for a graduate student, someone in post-graduation limbo, or anyone who wishes for an opportunity to reside by the Himalayas in Rishikesh, India, while working with a world authority on practical Indian spirituality and thought. The successful candidate will also be able to immerse him/herself into a modern campus / spiritual village setting with courses provided in Sanskrit, yoga and meditation. & nbsp; The candidate will work in Swami Veda's library which has over 10,000 books. It is especially strong in its Sanskrit collection, and also has more than 200 original manuscripts. He/she will be allowed to participate in all activites of the institute (lectures, classes and workshops), food and accommodation will be provided, along with a stipend (on Indian rates). & nbsp; If any of you know of anyone who might be interested, please contact Balraj Pannu at sbspannu, or & nbsp;post in an appropriate place & nbsp;on your campus. & nbsp; & nbsp; Thank you very much, Most sincerely, on behalf of Balraj Pannu, Jan Brzezinski & nbsp; Review of Swami Veda's book on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali (Vol. II) - taken from http://www.vedicbooks.net/yoga-sutras-of-patanjali-vol-ii-p-2657.html & nbsp; It was highly acclaimed as a work of rare authenticity, based on thirteen Sanskrit commentaries, synthesized and studied in the light of the oral tradition and direct personal experience in the master-disciple lineage of the yogis. The author is of the opinion that without such personal experience much of the terminology of the Yoga-sutras would remain obscure and any explanation of purely scholastic grounds would be incomplete. The value of the present volume on the Sadhana-pada is further enhanced by adding the study of even more published Sanskrit commentaries as well as unpublished manuscripts. Seven lengthy appendices add to the value of the work as the material presented in these appendices can be further researched and enhanced to form into independent theses. The author makes certain that the works of the previous commentators be examined in the light of how the Sutras are taught in the Himalayan caves among those who practice the various methods and are initiated into them. & nbsp; About the Author: & nbsp; SWAMI VED BHARATI is a published English poet, research guide, prolific author, lecturer and is referred to as a " scholar saint. " His writings include Ritual Songs and Folksongs of the Hindus of Surinam; Superconscious Meditation; Mantra and Meditation; Meditation and the Art of Dying; Philosophy of Hatha-yoga; God; Sayings; Blessings; Light of Ten Thousand Suns; etc. Besides he has to his credit nearly thirty booklets on various topics; and numerous articles. He has also recroded over three thousand hours of CD's on all aspects of spiritual philosophy, yoga and meditation.
