A Coffee Table Book on Khajuraho

By Onkar Rahi

Photographs by P S Saini

2006 290 x 220 mm 464 art plates in 4 colour

Hardcover Deluxe Edition Rs. 6000

Khajuraho Unknown is a book on the beautiful Khajuraho temples. The

Khajuraho temple complex, comprising of both Hindu and Jain temples, is a

world heritage site in the heart of Bundelkhand. It boasts of a beauty in

sculpture that is almost lyrical in quality. The refinement, finish and

finesse of the love iconography found in the temples of Khajuraho mark them

as unique in the world.

Khajuraho art has the fluidity of structure that allows for pensive faces

and bodies that are a riot of activity. The sculpture is like refined

poetry: lucid, flowing, soothing and arresting at the same time.

The gorgeous collage of photographs is accompanied by an insightful

commentary and an interpretation of the Khajuraho sculptures from tantric,

yogic and spiritual perspectives.

This book is a collector's item. No library is complete without this book.
