Guest guest
Hello Indologists, Just writing to let you know about two new books and two interesting items. Our list's very own Lars Martin Fosse has produced a new edition of the Bhagavad Gita. He will no doubt demur, but I think it's the best Gita ever. It contains a particularly informative introduction, the Sanskrit text of the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute's critical edition in Devanagari, an unparalleled new English translation, a comprehensive glossary of names and nicknames, and a thorough index. Karen Armstrong was kind enough to pen the endorsement. It contains a new introduction, the original Sanskrit in Devanagari (in fact, it's a new critical edition created by Dr. Mallinson for this book), a new English translation, nine full-page photographs, and an index. Elizabeth De Michelis generously contributed the blurb. Check it out. http://www.blankblank.net/collection/mikeandmaaike/religion/index.php And here's something very funny. On March 22nd the traffic from our Google AdWords campaign for the Gita just exploded. Why? We looked down the list of keywords and discovered everyone was searching for Sanjaya, one of the Gita's interlocutors--but also a contestant on American Idol! Brian P. S.
