Dear Hemanth,

Tiruvannamalai is a highly spiritual place. The Arunchaleswara temple and the sacred hill form the integral part of this place. It is believed that beneath the hill there are some Siddhas still dwelling. They take forms of birds or animals and move around. Another important fact about this place is that it represents the fire element of the Paanch Maha bhoothas. Fire is the purest element and hence this place is said to be pure.

Ramanashram is a must visit place. One must be previledged to get an opportunity to visit the Ashram. Once can clearly feel the vibration inside the Ashram.

My suggestion to you would be to circumambulate the hill once in the morning and once in the night instead of 2 backtoback continuous circumambulations. It is said that Ramana Maharshi used to take almost 9 hours to go round the sacred hill.

For 3 quarters of the circumbulatory path there are many smaller temple structures and tanks. However the tanks are not conducive for holy bath. It has been poorly maintained and definitely not recommended for submerging.

Virupaksha cave and Skandashram are located around 1/2 way to the top of the hill.

Ramana Maharshi lived in these caves and it has been maintained very well now.

So have a great trip.

Om Namo Bhagavathe Ramana ya

Om Arunchaleswaraya namaha.
