Yes it is rewarded any Mantra chanting get rewarded when the required no is chanted but one should not expect the time it could be very soon may be latter.

But astrology / planet position is also counted in reward.

It is not necessary to count, counting is one way of convinience to help us move along sadhana in the initial stages to keep the decipline and make us stick to the sadhana.

once we reach certain maturity in the process the significance of count will go away as we will become more regular and connected to the mantra and gos. you have achieved peace and tranquility that is great! continue your chanting. My teacher told me that Sincereity matters most and always follow what your heart tells you and what is convinient to you in Sadhana, that way our connection with the deva will be established.

Om Namah Shivaya,

God Bless,

Divakar.

Respected Gurujans n co-members,

I have been chanting Mantras for a long period and have derived abundance of peace n tranquility.

But the issue being that I don't keep a track of numbers so as to say HOW MANY TIMES? But during that period I wear my TULSI mala.

Please correct me,if I am following a wrong precedent?

Dear Shree Mridul,I have read in a story that a devotee prayed to Lord Rama that it is distracting his mind to keep a count, than to think about Rama, so he prayed to the Lord to twang his bow string whenever he touches 3 crore'th Nama-Japa. Lord Ram agreed!

It is true that the mind focusses on the count, than the mantra and the deity. I feel it is perfectly fine to go on with chanting without worrying about the numbers. The quality is important than the quantity. IMHO.
