98. Thoughts should be pure

Yad bhavam thad bhavathi (One becomes what one thinks). Hence, people should see that their thoughts are pure and good. Human life is the expression of one's thoughts. Thoughts arising in the mind fill the atmosphere with waves of energy. Thought waves are very powerful. Hence, our thoughts should be sublime and sacred. No evil ideas should affect our thoughts. Evil thoughts inevitably lead to evil actions. When cruel thoughts enter the mind, men behave like cruel animals. When, instead, there are good and loving thoughts in a man, they divinise him and enable him to perform good and sacred acts. Hence, every man's heart should be filled with love, compassion and kindness.  For transforming one's life, the first requisite is proper vision. This means that one should avoid seeing what is undesirable. Having been bestowed with the great gift of vision, one should strive to see only that which is sacred and pure. What man sees is like seeds sown in the heart. The heart determines the nature of one’s thoughts. The thoughts influence one's life. Evil scenes give rise to evil thoughts. Good scenes evoke good thoughts. When sacred scenes are implanted in the heart, there will be no room for bad feelings or thoughts to grow in it.

Dear Vijya Shankarji,

Very well said! It is that as I too understand. never theless i too would like

to add how to make accurate and stabilise the meditaions.

Adi Shankaracharya, quoting some Yagyavalkya has said 'meditation should be done

turnig north or east.'Let us try to analyse what this directional advantage

could be.the north is where we have the beginning of all directions, the north

pole and the pole star in the sky.In the east we have the rising sun.

When these two heavenly bodies seem to be properly aligned at the corect time of

the year ie spring equinox, It seems easy to travel to the fixed universe and

the cosmos. At the universe, we do not have the moving earth or time, and maya

and we have only the fixed sun and the stars. When we experiece this we seem to

be identifying ourselves with the universe which is known as Brahmalok. This

seems to be the goal of life to be one with Brahmah in the thoughtless state,

with no motion in the mind of thoughts and the feelings, but only peace of the

unmoving sun and the stars.Transeendetal state is going beyond the motions of

the earth or maya and fixing the mind to the universe and the cosmos.

These also seems to be the basis of celebrating the festivals at the varius time

of the year, so we can travel easily to the universe.
