Dear Sudhir ji,

The cosmic maya described below is the earth reduced to the universe. The

universe is Brahmah. When we imagine the earth with respect to the universe it

becomes a small dot in space. This dot is maya.It is said to be ignorance too, as

it is seen as a black dot in space.

But to lift it to the universe, we the creatures of the earth, have to fix the

earth at the various points in space like the solstices and the equioxes. These

are the shortest, longest and equal days and night during the year as the earth

travels around the sun. To realise these points we celebrate the various

festivals at different times of the year. For example, the lenght of the cosmic

travel from the shortest day to the longest day, we travel in space about 30

crore kilometers. This is the reason we celebrate two extreme sankrantis Makar

sankranti and Karkat sankranti, to get the feel of the longest distance we

travel in space. These two points are like the head and the tail of God, the

creator, or his backbone or spinal column. If we alighn ourselves with him we

reach him.

This timing has now gone wrong by 24 days, due to precession of earth axis, and

we have to do calendar reform for this purpose. The more we postpone this

calendar reform the more we are unable to escape the clutches of the maya and

delusion. Thus let us please discuss about this important aspect to save our

philosophies and not live in the world of theories only.

Thanks,

Hari Malla
