Guest guest
Hi All, Going back to original question, does one know how to perform a havan/homa while chanting Sri Rudram? Thanks, Bhupendra. Assaram Alamchandani <aac6993 Sent: Saturday, July 11, 2009 8:55:47 AMRe: (unknown) All Shiv Bhakt, There are some rules set in Shastra about chanting Mantras etc,I put one question but that discussion is not sent may be group management not found it suitable. All rules are set for hinduism only? It is said in Shastras that different rules are set for each yuga this kalyug so only 1/4th of the rules and chanting no can reward you.It is refered in Shiv Puran. I started chanting all at home and honestly with out any doubt I all left for and devoted to Shiva and Shakti.I am getting good Reward all the time. Very late I got Mantra for " Rudrakhsh" Before Chanting pray like this for Rudarakhsh" "Sat Namo adesh,Guruji ko adesh.om guruji. Mukhy Barhma, Madhya Vishnu Ling Naam Meheshwara, Sarvo deva Namaskram,Rudarakhs hye Namo Namah" After thsi you can chant Mantra by Rudarakhsh Mala. Dont go for any doubt but keep your full faith the Devta/Devi you are chanting for. I am not certain though there during the chant of Namakam and Chamakam, at which points are ahuti to agni given. I am guessing that each ahuti wouold have to be followed by a svahaa, but correct me if I am wrong. I have a copy of Sri Rudram, Namakam and Chamakam, but I cannot identify where I would be able to say svaha. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Bhupendra. Be smarter than spam. Guest guest
Dear Jamnadas,All saivite vadhyars (purohits) hailing from South India are trained to perform Rudra Havan while chanting the Sri Rudra Patam. They are taught the homa Vidhanam (procedures) for all types of Havans. There are also any number of non-professional Brahmin Grihastas and Brahmacharis IN SOUTH INDIA and elsewhere who are capable of chanting Rudram Text with correctl intonations without or with books when the havan is being performed. This humble self is one among such people and I have had occasions to participate in such havans as a Ritvik (one who officiates in havan) and can chant Rudram without help of book. The Vedic students study for 10 years in Vedapatasalas before they graduate as "Vadhyars" and are allowed to practise that profession. There are certain preliminaries poojas, rituals, sankalpam etc. etc. to be performed before any havan can be commenced. These take anything between 45 minutes to one hour. Depending upon the number of times or rounds you want to perform the main havan, time spent on the main havan will be consumed. There are certain other routine havans to be performed before and after any main havan. These may consume about 25 to 30 minutes. You better witness Maha Rudram if performed at your place or in South India. In Souther India Mahardram is performed every month at differeent venues. It calls for 11x 11=121 purohits including the Chief priest. They chant Rudrapatam 11 times and the function amounts to 11x11x11=1331 times of chanting Rudram or 1331 people sitting together and chanting Rudram once simultaneously. Similar procedure followed for 11 continous days at a single venue is called Ati Rudram. Maharudrams are performed frequently in Southern parts of India. Even in USA ,Cities like New Jersey, Atlanta have hosted such Havans. Understand this Havan in will be performed Chicago city also shortly. Atirudra Homams are done in Southern India at least 2,3 times in a year.G.Balasubramanian________________________________Bhupendra Jamnadas <b_jamna> Sent: Monday, July 13, 2009 10:20:53 AMRe: Rudra HavanHi All, Going back to original question, does one know how to perform a havan/homa while chanting Sri Rudram?
