Guest guest
Hari OM. Side by side with the qualities of a true Guru ,let us also see how a true Sadhaka is expected to conduct himself and as to who is a fit seeker. Most of us would be undertaking or would have undertaken various types of spiritual Sadhanas at some point of time or the other. While some of us progress faster than others, those who lag behind soon reach a state of frustration and despair which calls for subjective readjustments in our psychological and intellectual make-up. If success on the spiritual path has been slow or unsatisfactory, the seeker has to blame himself. Slow progress or lack of progress is invariably because of some clogs of the heart. In order to achieve better progress in one`s efforts, one has to remove those clogs and apply himself more intensely to self-development. This is true even in our every day life. Suppose, sitting in the driver`s seat I set out on the road ,in a brand new station wagon , with a tank-full of fuel on the road and the automobile fails for no conceivable reason. I know practically nothing about what lies under the bonnet of the wagon. Sitting in the driver`s seat I wrench out all the switches and tinker with all handles and when I find there is no response from the engine, I leave the vehicle on the roadside and catch a public conveyance and go home or to a Auto mechanic. But if in my place, there were a professional and knowledgeable driver, he is at once able to sense out the trouble spot. After making necessary check-ups and adjustments under the bonnet, he resumes his seat and the machine responds to his demand. Likewise, when in meditation a seeker (sadhak) finds his mental avenues blocked, it is meaningless for him to sit in the asana and despair on his failure or curse the entire heirarchy of Rishis or the science of Vedanta. He must at once lift the bonnet of his bosom and look within to see if the necessary adjustments are all properly maintained therein. Without the needful inner adjustments even if a sadhak is placed under the best conditions of time and place he will not be able to make use of them. On the other hand, a true seeker even under adverse conditions will turn them to the best advantage and will progress steadily, unhampered.
