Guest guest
Radhe Krishna To all,1. Question: Who is a perfect Guru?Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji:A perfect Guru is one who has seen God and helps you reach Him.-----------------2. Is it possible for someone to lead a life of truthfulness without a Guru?Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji:One has to have an enormous amount of will power to live a life of truthfulness without a Guru.---------------3. For over a long period of time many Gurus and Sages have come and gone. There have been innumerable disciples for these Gurus. These disciples were, no doubt, devoted their Gurus, but when they move into the world, become hard-hearted, corrupt and materialistic. Why can the Gurus not change at least 10% of their disciplesSri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji:The ‘Uttama’ Guru will never try to perform any gimmicks or mesmerism to try to bring about a change in the disciple. That is the work of a magician and not of a Uttama Guru! The Adi Guru, Lord Dakshinamurthi Himself had only four disciples worth mentioning.Goodness in any person is an attribute and is oriented towards action. This itself will not result in ‘Mukti’ (Liberation). In his great work “Viveka Chudamaniâ€, Adisankara Bhagavatpada has said that Mukti does not result from Dhaana (charity), Sankhya Yoga or through millions of Pranayama. It results solely from Jnana and this is possible only through the grace of the Guru.Guru's grace is not an act in isolation but a natural result when he is extremely pleased and happy with the disciple. If that happens, the disciple is transformed spontaneously. For the disciple of a Uttama Guru to be good, all his vasanas should be destroyed. This is a silent internal transformation and is done gradually within and not through force. This may not even be noticed by the disciple himself. If the disciple is truly attached to the Uttama Guru, this internal transformation will happen slowly but surely. -------------4. Is Guru bhakthi alone sufficient? Can this solve all our problems ? Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji: Guru Bhakthi alone is very much sufficient. This should be with total surrender to Guru's will. All cannot get the mental maturity for total surrender that easily. The extent of smooth sailing in our life directly depends on the extent of surrender to the chosen Guru. To a person who has totally surrendered to his Guru's will, life would be a bed of roses. For those , who have not fully Only unshakable devotion to one's Guru, can ensure smooth sailing in the journey of life. ---------------5. Is this surrender an act? Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji: No. Surrendering to a Guru is definitely not an act. It is dedicating ourselves whole heartedly. --------------6. Ok Swamiji.. But if we surrender ourselves to a Guru, who is not a Gyani, what will happen to us ? Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji: If you surrender with supreme, unshakable faith, still your surrender would yield the results. ---------------7. What is the difference between this, and surrender to a Gyani ? Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji: If a person - even if he is having a lot of shortcomings- surrenders to a Gyani and the Gyani accepts his surrender, due to greatness of the Gyani, his way of life would take a wonderful turn, Godward. ---------------8. How are we to know a Guru? Swami Vivekananda:The sun requires no torch to make him visible, we need not light a candle in order to see him. When the sun rises, we instinctively become aware of the fact, and when a teacher of men comes to help us, the soul will instinctively know that truth has already begun to shine upon it. Truth stands on its own evidence, it does not require any other testimony to prove it true, it is self effulgent. It penetrates into the innermost corners of our nature, and in its presence the whole universe stands up and says, "This is truth." The teachers whose wisdom and truth shine like the light of the sun are the very greatest the world has known, and they are worshipped as God by the major portion of mankind. The real Guru is the one through whom we have our spiritual descent. He is the channel through which the spiritual current flows to us, the link which joins us to the whole spiritual world. Too much faith in personality has a tendency to produce weakness and idolatry, but intense love for the Guru makes rapid growth possible, he connects us with the internal Guru. Adore your Guru if there be real truth in him; that Guru-bhakti (devotion to the teacher) will quickly lead you to the highest.Guru-Bhakti is the foundation of all spiritual development. " And Finally one last question Swamiji.....
