HARI OM

Out of the 118 different passages for departure of the soul from the Gross body only one is said to be illuminated by the Atman acc

ording to the karma of the jiva (soul in the gross body). The passageway is selected by the jiva according to the activities of the erstwhile living entity. As soon as he is out of the body, the soul moves , naturally drawn to its next form. At that time the soul experiences the world from the point of the subtle body and will see things much clearer than how they are seen through the previous body. Vedanta Sutra describes that the less sinful persons who have accumulated punya(merits) go to higher regions. After time alloted by their karmas they return to earth, in the same way a cheque bounces back on account of inadequate balance in the account. The Gita also explains this well. In this way a living entity once again attains a human form to earn merits and to repeat the same cycle. In this way a Jiva perpetually goes and comes on the material path. One who is firmly established in

God- consciouness prepares himself to return to God, as the Chandogya Upanishad puts it. This very same idea has been emphasised at so many places in the Bhagavad Gita also. as already brought out in earlier submissions. That is what is meant by IMMORTALITY. It is the past karma of a jiva that is responsible for rebirth in a particular womb.
