Hari OMThe essence of our ego is an ugly self-worth or self-esteem which appears to be an entity independent our control. Ego is a result of repeated actions which over a period of time form into habits and erosion of our original self-control and power of discrimination. The ego is nothing but our individuality. Having ourselves been responsible for generating it,we also have the inherent capacity to rid ourselves of it, and we alone are capable of doing so. The unique and distinct individuality is the character, which manifests as our behavioural

traits and habits. Our ego envelops our inner divine nature and blocks it from being the source of our thoughts and actions. The sheath of ego becomes the matrix for our motivation, thought and action. It moulds our individual mind which obscures the Universal Mind or Divinity in us. When we are able to break the mould of our mind, we will be closer to divinity. Our ego, which we tend carefully and cherish, separates us from experiencing oneness with the universe and the Lord. thereby we lose our birthright, the experience of Infinitude, Permanence, and Bliss which is our true and essential nature as that of the Universal Consciouness.

It is our ego that leads us to more and more desires. It causes us to strive for and acquire endlessly things to enjoy. 'I 'and 'Mine' become our sole criteria for self-worth. We begin to think that the more we have, the more important we are. As our ego gets inflated, we are oppressed by even stronger identification with 'I' and 'Mine'. In our quest for spirituality, we need to dissolve this ego-sheath to revert to the original purity and Oneness, to experience the Universal Mind and the Divinity within. It is our ego that experiences hurt, insult, hatred, anger, jealousy, and all other emotions. It is the ego that has wants, desires and greed; it is the ego that suffers confusion, illusion and delusion. It is also the ego that inflicts hurt and insult on others. Ego makes us commit wrongs by distorting our true sight and understanding. It creates prejudice and

poison within our minds. Getting rid of our ego leaves us with no entity within, that feels hurt, angry, grieved, humilated. revengeful or miserable. What remains is the original, pure dynamic Consciouness. Eradicatiing our ego also leaves us with no entity to inflict these feelings on others. What remains is only oneness and universal brotherhood.
