Guest guest
Dear Friends,Hari OM.Ego is like a caterpillar, which leaves its hold on one leaf, only after it catches on another. The ego functions as the knot between the Self which is pure Consciouness and the physical body, which is inert and insentient. The ego is therefore called the Chit-jada-granthi. " I am this" is the ego. When 'I' is kept as 'I' only, it is the SELF. When it flies off at a tangent and says,"I am this or that", " I am such and such--it is the ego. The ego is merely a ghost with no form of its own but feeding on any form it holds. With the rise of ego everything else rises and if it subsides everything else subsides. True renunciation consists in destroying the ego through Self-enquiry. Ego is a false appearance of the real Self. It is something intermediate between the inert body and the Self. The feeling of 'I"in respect of the body,or in other words, the deep-rooted self-identification with the same is called the ego. The ego is the main cause of all errors and the origin of all false values. It is that to which we refer all our judgements regarding everything in our own experience. As it is limited and circumscribed in nature ,it can not confer infallibility upon its judgments. Hence the errors.
