Guest guest
Sushmaji,Lord Siva is called 'Aasu tosah', meaning easily pleased. You can please Lord Siva by taking His names. You do not have to do elaborate poojas, abishekham, pooja etc. But If you are keen on it, you might as well engage a competent purohit( not any pujari or panditji). The best time to worship Lord Siva is during pradosha kalam which occurs at the junction of day and night on every Trayodasi (occuring twice in a month). You may enquire about Rudrabisheka procedure from any south Indian priest. The abishekham will be done after performing Ganapathi pooja and sankalpam and shodasa upachara pooja followed by Abishekham with the chanting of Srirudram Text from the Vedas. The abishekham is to done with prescribed samagris(11 in number) like til oil, milk, coconut water, honey, bhasma etc. etc. The abishekham will be followed by flower archana with Siva Ashtotra satanamavali or trisati or sahasranamam. Ladies are not eligible to chant Vedic Mantras, which only those who are initiated can chant. This is the way to perform Rudrabishekam. At the same time Sri Rudram says, " namah shivaya cha shivataraya cha " . Even if Bhagavan has a ugra roop, he is the most auspicioius, more auspicious than anything else in the universe - here or hereafter. Guest guest
I want some explaining if some one is located at a place where there is no such "Pandatji" or "Purohit" than what to do? I am located in Pakistan where we have no litrature available and the other is language problem bcoz we are unaware of Indian languages. I daily recite "Shiv Seser Naam" in the morning sometime before sunrise and sometime after. I believe in confidence (Vishwas) and lord shiva get all accepted if you are doing with full devotion and "Vishwas". I am "Raghuwansi" means from Shree Ram generation and our "Kul Devi" is" Devi Maa Hinglaj " where shree Ram had been after "Ravan Killing" for Pirishchit.. I am telling you the fact"I was at CHANDI DEVI AaSTAN at HARIDAWAR in october 2007 which was CHANDI CHTURATHI and was explained that it is Birth Day of Devi Chandi.I just prayed and requested that Maa I want to be here next year on the same day too, believe me I was there on the same day almost same time.I mean to say when you pray than please pray with deep heart not like a Filmy Dialouge. This is not the only incident but I had many.I am Devotee since last 15 years and have recited "SHIVA PURAN" for seven times.I am rewarded with what I have requested I have prayed. Some respecteble female members few days earlier had objection of me asking the location but my intention was to Guide them for some thing but I feel it was all from Shiva side. I am an elderly person therefore no any female should take on dark side but always take Bright side which will benefit every one. Trust/Belief/Vishwas is the main thing. Guest guest
Thank you Balasubramanian Ji In fact I know the procedure of Rudraabhishek done in temples. We have a temple in which there are two South Indian priests who do this on every Pradosh. They have also done it on our behalf twice. It is very elaborated one and lasts for about a little less than 2 hours. As far as Shiv's Abhishek is concerned doing at home, I know only to do his Abhishek with ordinary milk and just with red Kumkum, rice etc. I cannot do such elaborated one with Mantra etc. That is why I do only (1) Jap of " Aum Namah Shivaaya " 108 times, Mrityunjaya Mantra recitation 108 times, Rudraashtak (appears in Tulasee's Raam Charit Maanas) recitation once and Mrityunajaya Stotra once daily in the morning. I don't know what else I should do to please him. With regards Sushma , G Balasubramanian <gbsub wrote: > > Sushmaji, > Lord Siva is called 'Aasu tosah', meaning easily pleased. Guest guest
Dear Shailendra Ji Aum Namah Shivaaya Whatever you wrote is perfectly all right, and you know sometimes Bhagavaan has to take his Ugra Roop also when He/She has to kill terrible Daanav, so there is nothing bad in it, nor there is anything to be afraid of. But everybody has his nature. I am not that type of nature. I do not like even small quarrels in even my house; or hot arguments. If situation reaches at that point I immediately surrender. That is why I love to worship only those who are very peaceful and pleasant looking, such as Ganesh Ji, Hanumaan Ji, Raam, Krishn, Lakshmee Ji, and Saraswatee Jee. Guest guest
Mataji Namaste, You are free to choose the deity you like. Perhaps, that is why Vedas and Puranas describe Bhagavan in so many forms and names. Mata is durgati harini - that which takes away durgati . By riding on the lion of desires, she destroys mental agitation and brings peace. When the monsters of senseless desire, ego and anger in the mind are destroyed, the dawn of knowledge or atma jnana arises. Perhaps there are other interpretations of this lion symbolism. I read this one somewhere in Swami Krishnanandaji's website (http://www.swami-krishnananda.org/) regards, Shailendra , " bhagvatjee " <bhagvatjee wrote: > > Dear Shailendra Ji > Aum Namah Shivaaya > Whatever you wrote is perfectly all right, and you know sometimes Bhagavaan has to take his Ugra Roop also when He/She has to kill terrible Daanav, so there is nothing bad in it, nor there is anything to be afraid of. > > But everybody has his nature. Guest guest
I agree with your statement that faith is a must in any form of spiritual activity. If you are convinced that you are worshipping with faith and nothing is lacking in your devotion to Lord, that is good enough. Some respecteble female members few days earlier had objection of me asking the location but my intention was to Guide them for some thing but I feel it was all from Shiva side. Guest guest
Sushmaji,Pl. visit the Siva-Vishnu Temple near Washington D.C. or any other Siva temple located in USA . Before visiting the temple, you can book online for Rudrabisekham through relevant website or on phone by giving your name, Gothram, Janma nakshatram and name. Rudrabisekahm on Pradosham days will confer immense benefits on you. Pradosha Vratham is observed by many South Indian ladies. As pointed out by you, it is Siva Sahasranamam and not 'Shiv sesernaam'. Sahasra means one thousand. Full-fledged Abhishekham can not be performed in the abscence of a competent Purohit. If you happen to be in northern parts of India, you can perform abhishekham yourself in any shiva temple. But in Southern parts of India you are not allowed to perform this yourself since you can not touch the Sivalingam even if you happen to go into the sanctum sanctorum with wet clothes and after a headbath. Anybody can perform Manasik pooja including manasic abhishekham. So you and Assaramji can resort to Manasik Pooja.G.Balasubramanianbhagvatjee <bhagvatjee Sent: Wednesday, June 24, 2009 10:10:07 AM Re: simple bhairava sadhanas Dear Assaram Ji Aum Namah Shivaaya If you are unaware of Indian languages, then how do you recite Shiv Sahastra Naam, and how have you read Shiv Puraan? Guest guest
Thanks Balasubramaniam Ji We have a temple, where we live, so no problem of performing Rudraabhishek. But I just asked because if it is at home you need not to spend any money except on Poojaa materials, otherwise, if it is done in temple, it takes a few hundred dollars here to perform it. Well, thanks for suggestion. With regards Sushma , G Balasubramanian <gbsub wrote: > > Sushmaji, > Pl. visit the Siva-Vishnu Temple near Washington D.C. or any other Siva temple located in USA .
