Aum Namashivaya,

Also, one who studies the rudram (namakam, chamakam) along with

purusha suktham will be respected, honoured, adorned by brahma in

their after life.

Kindly note that, rudram is one of the mantra's when chanted will

make all the deities, devathas, gandarvas etc., happy and will

readily obtain their blessings.

As other member pointed out, kindly pay attention on the

pronounciation and to start with you can chant the portion of

rudram which itself is very powerful.

1.Aum namo bhavagathe rudraya vishnuvey, mrithurmey bhaahi -

Oh Glorious rudra, ominpresent one, save me from the death.

2.Aum namasthey asthu bhagavan vishveshwaraya,

mahadevaya, triambhagaya, tripurandagaya, trikalagni kalaya,

kalagni rudraya, neelakandaya, mrithunjayaya, sarveshwaraya,

sadashivaya, sriman mahadevaya namaha

3.Aum Nama shivaya / Aum Shivaya Namaha (Note that, there are

various permutations of nama shivaya and all are powerful

e.g yasiva nama, yanamasiva etc.,, kindly consult a spiritual

guide, guru for more information, this is same as sanskrit

ganapadam).

4.Aum Triambakam Yajamahey Sugandhim pusthivardhanam, ooruvara kamiva

bhandanam mrithyo mukshiya maamruthaathu - Mrithunjaya mantra.

Apart from this, rudram has many hidden bijaksharams which only is

known to a " sat guru " , elevated spiritual guide.

Just by chanting rudram many time, Pasupathi has gained a

position in 63 nayanmars (sect of holy shiva devotees in south

india who merged with lord shiva by merely following, chanting shiva)

and known as Rudra pasupathi nayanaar.

Also, chanting rudram in some temple, specific time is considered very

auspicious. When rudram is chanted in " Rudra Koteeswarar " Temple

(Temple in chengalpattu, where crores of rudra prayed lord shiva

for forgiving their sins) is multipled to crores. Rudram when chanted

at Prasdhosha kaalam (4:30pm to 6:30 pm) is very effective as

this time is considered auspicious for lord shiva.

Aum.

Aum Nama shivaya,Kindly take the bus to thirukazhukundram from chengalpattu (buses going to kalpakamwill stop in thirukazhukundram) and the temple is walking distance from bus stand. Also, you can visit bakthavatchaleswarar temple nearby and Vedagiriswarar temple (in the mountain) along with Rudra Koteeswarar temple. Like thiruvannamalai, you can perform Giri Valam on the thirukazhukundram malai(around 4-5 km).If possible, stay there somewhere and visit vedagiriswarar in the early morning, its a good excercise on walking over the steps to reach the mountain top. After that, you can perform girivalam and goto other two temples in the evening.Kindly plan a full day for comfortable visit.Aum,Ganesh.--- On Wed, 1/7/09, balaji .t <balaji_matrix wrote:balaji .t <balaji_matrixRe: Re: Question about Sri Rudram chanting Date: Wednesday, January 7, 2009, 4:46 AM
