OM NAMAH SIVAYA

 

NAMAH SIVAYA Means " Obeisance to siva " It can be prefixed with the

mantra 'OM' to become 'OM NAMAH SIVAYA'. This mantra is eternal as

well as the seed of all living beings.It has siva for its Atma.It

yields liberation, it is the essence of the vedas. It is undoubtedly

proficient in commanding.It achieves all objects. It is the seed of

all vidyas (knowledge ) .it is the first splendid mantra. This mantra

has a bearing on the knowledge of the Atman.It is a secret and it

illuminates the understanding of siva.

 

This great mantra is never harmful to anyone. For the eradication

of sin, a devotee shall take bath, repeating the mantra a hundred and

eight times. Lord Siva promised that in this world even a fallen

devotee of his may become liberated through this mantra.

 

He who performs worship on Shivaratri will be competent to perform

the task of creation, maintenance etc,of the universe. This calls

for devotion and reverence to our Lord Siva. A little effort daily

yields some fruit, but a greater determination on the part of an

assiduous
