Guest guest
I have written about Mahamrityunjaya mantram for Koti Archana. I read a description about this mantram in " Daivathin Kural " vol vi by Mahaswamy Chandrasekhara Saraswathi of Kanchi Mutt. The mantram generally means that one prays for all his welfare and prosperity in this world, lives till ripe old age and the end is without any suffering, illness or pain like the ripe old Vallari fruit drops from the climber, to attain everlasting bliss. There is more than this meaning. Vallari (urvarukam) is a climber and not a tree or plant. It grows on the ground without support from a tree or pandal. When the fruit is fully ripe the stalk disconnects from the fruit and it is left on the floor. It is not the fruit that disconnects but the stem and it goes about growing further leaving the fruit in its place. Another point is it never decays even after left alone for a long time. We pray Lord Parameswara ( Thriambaka) that our life should be long, sweet smelling(suganthim) prosperous (pusti)and healthy and the life to a ripe old age without disease when one realizes SELF (Atma bhodam) and still live in the same environment, without any attachment to the exterior world like water particles on lotus leaf. When Maya leaves alone the individual, like the disassociation of stalk to the fruit, the life to come to an end abruptly without any pain or suffering and attains Moksha(amrutatwam)like the vellari fruit when fully ripe, the stalk disconnects it from the stem, remains in on the ground for a long time without decaying or smelling and bursts, leaving no remnants like Manikkavachakar,Nandanar and Meerabai as they join the universe leaving nothing in this world. This is Mahamrithyunjaya mantram.
