Guest guest
And I have just found a proof that one should NOT use Shankh(sea shell- Conch shell) for Rudrabhishek OR any Abhishek,I am uploading a file here to below link taken from Shivapuran's chaper of Rudrasanhita.Hope this will be a big help for those(like me)who did not know this. Also inform others devotees of Shiva as well so they too benifited out of this. http://www.filebam.com/download/47380-7ad5de/Shiv381.gif , tpmods <no_reply wrote: > > Can one fill shankh with the water and offer rudrabhisheka on Lingam? Guest guest
Dear All, I doubt about below. In Madhurai kamashki temple to Sunderswar (dakshina murthi) they do abhi sheka with shankha. This is a practice. There is a ritual where they will do abhisheka with 1000 shanks (i am not very clear about this number). Regards, J.Sridhar On 4/14/08, tpmods <no_reply > wrote: And I have just found a proof that one should NOT use Shankh(sea shell-Conch shell) for Rudrabhishek OR any Abhishek,I am uploading a file here to below link taken from Shivapuran's chaper of Rudrasanhita.Hope this will be a big help for those(like me)who did not know this. Also inform others devotees of Shiva as well so they too benifited out of this.http://www.filebam.com/download/47380-7ad5de/Shiv381.gif , tpmods <no_reply wrote: >> Can one fill shankh with the water and offer rudrabhisheka on Lingam?I > am little confused on the method of Rudrabhishek so members are > requested to help on this query of mine,In one CD of Shri Kailash > Yatra I have seen a preist doing rudrabhishek with above method hence > want to have expert comments with knowledgable members of this group.> Om Namo Bhagvate Rudray.>
Guest guest
Dear Sridhar Possible but when we see a clear reference from " Purana " One must give full respects to it and offer puja based upon description given in such very old and respected granths(books).Even a temple nearby here pujari is doing same thing like what you have said but I shall never advise him but personally shall never perform pooja in a wrong way or opposite to a method given in Shivpurana. , " Bharnikumar babu " <bharnikumar wrote: > > Dear All, > > I doubt about below. Guest guest
I am not confused and let me again warn that please do NOT use Shankha filled either with water or cow's milk for Rudrabhisheka.I have seen in Somnath temple that Priests use big vessels made by silver or copper but never use Shankha and the sole proof which should be an ultimate one I have uploaded as a file which should be treated as the last reference. Thanks for your inputs. Guest guest
I end this discussion here with this post, thx v.much to all who replied to my query. Personally I would never like to go against Purana and I think one should consult a well established and knowledgable guru before using Shankha for rudrabhika either with water or with cow's milk, shashtras cannot be wrong and when you know that it is being written there then better follow the steps/methods given in it. Shiva as you know is Bholenath,if I did anything wrong without knowing he will forgive me for sure but I would never attempt doing it wrong again,I here close this discussion fm my part on this subject.I stress that Somnath is one of oldest jyotirlinga and there they do not use Shankha for any abhisheka,do check this fact with those who have visited Somnath. May Lord Shiva bless all of us. Om Namo Bhagvate Rudray. , tpmods <no_reply wrote: > > Can one fill shankh with the water and offer rudrabhisheka on Lingam? Guest guest
Using Shankha is nowhere specified for rudrabhishek. In fact, the type of vessel also not specified. Your doubt is right, when Shankha is more sacred compared to any other type of vessel, why can't we use it? But, the Shankha must be Dakshinavrutta Shankh. Let the experts throw some light on this topic.
