The light that you are looking for externally is right in your heart - it is not a white or red or blue light - it is that light which enables you to eat, see, feel, think, digest, talk, hear, smell, taste and function. That light is called Atman by some, God by others, Siva by some, Vishnu by others. Whatever you call it, it is the light of lights and it is one and it is infinite. So don't worry about any visible white light experiences.
