OM Namah Sivaya Dear Sri Divarkar, You can go to Kedarnath form GuptaKashi district of Uttarkand state. For 14Km one can walk, or ride on a pony, or by palki, or fly by helicopter. I would recommend you to walk up the steps if your health is good, riding on a pony can be uncomfortable and risky, there was an old man who was fallen down from a pony while on his return journey and I provided some first aid. I was initially going to fly by helicopter because I was travelling with my mother who is elderly, due to the bad weather the helicopter was cancelled, so I walked and my mum travelled by palki. I stayed in a hotel (at Kedernath) which is just two minutes walking distance from the temple for two nights. It is absolutely cold during the night and there is no heating system,

so should you decided to stay there, it is advisable to take a high quality Thermal sleeping bag with you. By tradition, people first go to Yamunotri and Gangotri temples and collect holy water near the place where those rivers originate and take it to Kedarnath and perform Abhisheka to the Jyoti Linga, and I did the same. I had to use an agency organise taxi, book hotels, etc. You may find the itinerary provided by my agent for the pilgrimage useful: ITINERARY 28.08.2007: Arrival at 11AM at Delhi (Indra Gandhi) Airport, Meet , assist and transfer to the Hotel..
