Guest guest
Dear Friends Some time ago I came to know about a Shiva meditation while searching the Internet. This is called a one minute meditation by Dr. Bhaskaran Pillai known as Sivababa. You may go through the details given in the following link: My personal feeling is that this is a very ancient proven method of Shiva meditation. In brief it is like this. One has to sit down in a comfortable posture (asana) and close his eyes. Then he / she should make the following sounds with concentration on specific chakras. 1. Aah (the A of AUM) at the Muladhara (bottom of the spine) which represents the Eternal yogi Shiva. (10 secs) 2. UUU (the U of AUM) at the heart chakra which represents the force of the Divine Mother. (10 secs) 3. Maa (the M of AUM) at the throat chakra which represents the created elements of the universe from Shiva and Shakti. (5 secs) 4. Then AUM at the Agna chakra (between the two eyes) for 10 secs. 5. Then again go back to the Muladhara chakra and utter with concentration and focus the words Naa (Na of Nama Shivaya) for 5 secs. It represents the Earth " tatwa " (The five tatwas are earth, water, fire, air and ether. The human body and mind is made out of balance of this 5 tatwas) 6. Then Ma (Ma of Namah )at the navel chakra for 5 secs representing water aspect. 7. Then Shi (Shi of Shivaya) at the heart chakra for 5 secs representing fire tatwa. 8. Then Va (Va of Shivaya) at the throat chakra for 5 secs representing air (vayu) tatwa. 9. Then Ya (Ya of Shivaya) at the agna chakra or the centre place between the two eyes for 5 secs, representing Ether. These nine steps make one cycle of meditation. The sounds must not very loud it should be audible by your ears. Now you may go on repeating this cycle as your mind may permit. I have practiced this for some time. I have noticed that this meditation particularly calms down the senses and gives a feeling of strong control over your thoughts. It also imparts mental strength. I think with continuous or daily practice the aspirant may also achieve higher levels of consciousness and special powers with this meditation. At least I am sure that this meditation will be very beneficial the practitioner. However if you have neurological or nervous disorders than you better take doctors advice before doing this meditation. Another important point is that one should not immediately plunge into worldly activities immediately after this meditation. One should give some time for the effects of the meditation to settle down in your mind. While meditating it is better to ensure that you should not get stopped or distracted, while in the process.(Take precautions such as switching off mobile phones etc.) Wish a happy journey on meditation. Let almighty Shiva bless us with peace of mind and pure intellect. Aum Namah Shivaya Yours Abhijit
