Guest guest
Om Namah Sivaya Namaste, Why do we pray to Lord Shiva ? There could be many reasons : #1 Some physical or mental or emotional discomfort/disease/problem. #2 For mental purification (chitta-shuddhi) so that the mind is ready to receive knowledge #3 For knowledge. It is said that knowledge is extremely purifying because it destroys all the karmas accumulated in innumerable births. Lord Shiva is the first teacher in the vedantic tradition (SadaShiva samarambhaam shankaracharya madhyamaam asmadaacharya paryantaam vande guru paramparam) #4 You simply love Lord Shiva. Why would you love Lord Shiva ? Simply because you always love your own being. What is being ? Being is Bhagawan - consciousness, the awareness in which this mind-body complex and the world exist. Now there must be several Jnanis and advanced sadhakas and honest seekers on this list. I request them to share their pursuit of Lord Shiva, how to get close to Lord Shiva and how to always walk on the path of dharma, unselfishness and be free from doership and attachment. regards, Shailendra
