Guest guest
Namaste AartiReading of the Devi Bhagavatam can be done in the following way :Purchase the book on a New moon dayCarefully wipe the covers of the text with a mildly damp cloth to remove excess dust etc. and dry the cover with a dry clothWrap the book in a silk cloth - Raw silk the best (white in colour) and keep in a clean place (Puja Room) would be ideal.Prior to reading you should avoid eating meat or drinking alcohol You should also not be in menstruation, when this occurs you should not engage in physical puja either but should pray silently and in your mind.1) Use the toilet, bathe and brush your teeth.2) Put on clean clothes 3) Go to your puja room4) Place the book on a reading stand (rehal)5) Perform the Puja of Lord Ganesh6) Perform the Puja of Sarasvati Mata7) Perform the Puja of the text ( offer, Jal - one or two drops of water, Attar (scent), dhupa (agarbatti) Dipa- Aarti, pushpa ( flower).8) Pray that the knowledge of the text will be revealed to you by grace.9) Read the text. Note : When you are reading you should be in a focused and concentrated state of mind. You should sit up and breathe evenly, do not touch the text except to turn the pages. There is no time limitation for daily completion as far as I am aware. However reading at a fixed time daily for a specific period of time is beneficial as it builds a discipline. Try to read in small portions and understand what you read. If for any reason you require to go to the toilet etc. you should purify yourself before continuing the reading.10) When you are finished ask MA for forgiveness of any errors of omission or commission you may have committed and wrap the text in the cloth. 11) This can be started on a new moon day or on a FridayThese are simple general guidelines for you to follow.Namah SivayaBest RegardsPandit Devindra Maharaj aarathi22222 <aarathi22222 wrote: Dear devotees, To read devi bhaghavatham book are there any religous rules that have to be followed.
