SRI MAATRE NAMAHA

 

'Bharata varsha'(India) is a 'Punya bhumi'(sacred land). It is

given birth for several saints and scholers. This is the mother land

for Vedas and Veda Drasthas. Even now our mother land is showing the

guidelines for human beings all over the world to acchive their goal

as such thier lives shall get fruitfulness and capable to attain the

supreme goal.

 

There was an uneducated and rigid brahmin youth residing in

Kodumur village in Kurnool District in Andhra Pradesh south India.

His name was 'Balakavi'(small poet). As he is uneducated the

villagers called him with a nick name as 'MOTAPPA' and insulted him.

Due to this he want to commit suicide to end his life. But he want

to get permission from the Goddess Vaageeswari in that village for

his action. Now the Goddess is called as VALLELAMBA. He entered into

the temple and slept down.The Goddess kicked him out from her temple

and droped him in the river HANDRI nearer to the temple. Althoug the

river is in full swing our hero crossed the river and entered again

into the temple. The Goddess acted like previous and Motappa also

reacted like previously. At last the Goddess became merciful and

asked him about his wish. After knowing his wish the Goddess blessed

him and fulfilled his desire. SHE also given promiss to stay in his

dyanasty for seven gernrations and to bless all of them as scholers

and yogis. As a result Motappa became a great scholer in ARSHA

VIDYAAS and ATMAVIDYA also. By this act the Gollapinni dyanasti

people worship HER as thier family daity every year His grand son

Subba sastry was became a great scholer and got victory over the

scholers at Baroda and honoured by the king of Baroda.

 

Shri Alukur Gollapinni Mallikarjuna Sastry belongs to the

dyanasty of Motappa. He was the grandson of Subba Sastry. By birth

he was a yogi. He is in a habbit of entering into SAMADHI (deep

meditaion) for days together. Some one has to bring him out from

samadhi by making sounds of OMKARAM in his right ear. He was a great

poet and well acquinted with several sastras. Gollapinni Venkatarama

sastry and Subbamamba were the parents of this great person. He was

residing in Alukur village in Raichur District in Karnataka state

 

He learned ' NATAKANTA SAHITYAM' and 'SIDHHANTA KOWMUDI' with

Tatwa bodhinee vyakhya, NYAYA SASTRA and VEDANTA from his father.

Along with his father he went to Gadwal, Vanaparti and Atmakur

Samsthanas and pleased scholers there. As such he was honoured at

his very young age with the title as 'Bharati Bala Lelaa Rupa' by

those eminent persons. After expiry of his father he went to Sri

Kalahasti in Chittoor District and learned 'Mahabhashyanta

vyakaranam' and Jyotisha Sastram with divisions of Muhurta, Jataka

and Sidhhanta. There he wrote a book named as KHACHARA MANI PETI a

ten thounsand year calender and presented the same to his Guruji of

Srikalahasti. By this calender any one can easly known the Tithi,

Vara,Nakshatra, Yoga and Karana with minute time limits for ten

thousand years. After completion of his education at the age of 20

years he started to do 'Satavadhanaas' He was honoured with the

titles of KAVITA SARVABHOWMA and SAKALA SASTRABHIGNA

 

Apart from his Anushthana in BRHMAVIDYA he was a worshipper of

Goddess VALLELAMBA of Kodumur (Vaageeswari), Lord DATTATREYA and SRI

MALLIKARJUNA SWAMY (Lord SIVA) of Alukur.

 

He wrote a book named as 'JYOTISSASTRA SUDHARMASAARA' about

astrology and presented the same to His Holiness Sri Nrusimha

Sarawati Swamy of Shringeri Mutt while Sri Swamiji was performing

SANKARA PRATISHTA at KALADI the birth place of Sri Sankaracharya.

Sri Swamiji pleased with his work and honoured him with a title of

PANDITA SARVABHOWMA.

 

Shri Sastriji was also an expert in AKSHA VIDYA and VEDA

GANITAM apart from Jyotishya sastra. By the AKSHA VIDYA he was

capable to say the number of leaves of tree and to tell the number

of coins in a bag without opening it.

 

He was a miracle man. Once he want to perform an Yaga named as

SATRA YAGA at Alkur where there is water scarcity . Yaga shall be

performed continuasly for one year. Huge amount shall be required

for the same. But he is not having sufficiant money. He is a land

lord of only five acers of dry land. But he is not interested in

raising funds for the same as he is an APRATIGRAHAVRATI (not to

receive single pai from any one for any purpose). Then a deciple of

him raised the issue before him. Our sastriji ordered him to put a

big iron rod duly burnt red before him. Even though sastriji was an

orthadox brahmin he poured his urine on the iron rod duly walking by

the side of iron rod which was kept in public and in front of local

Mallakarjunasa swamy temple. After washing the iron rod it was

turned into Gold and it was utilised for yaga. Sastiji was in a

habbit of giving sacred water (mantrodakam) to the required people.

Several persons came to receive mantrodaka and YAGA was stopped for

a while. TO avod this trouble our sastriji turned the well water in

front of Mallikarjuna swamy temple as MANTRODAKA and asked the

people to take that water directly as MANTRODAKA.

 

A Taahasildar was playing with his son of one year. Our

Sastriji and his brother Rama Sastry observed this while going on

their way. Brother Ramasastry smiled even though Sastriji giving

indiation not to do so. The Tahsildar observed them and invited them

into his house. After some time he compelled our sastriji to tell

the reason about thier laugh. Even though they denie the request

they had no other go than to tell the reason. Sastriji told that the

boy of Tahasildar was not born through him. The boy was born to the

wife of Tahasildar and a washerman of that town. The Tahsildar asked

for proof. Sastriji told that the boy's original father shall die at

12 noon exactly, by snake bite on the seventh day from that date.

The Tahasildar kept our sastriji and his brother under house arrest

for seven days, and made necessary arrangements to find out the

truth. Exactly on the sevemth day as per the veridict of our

sastriji the original father of that child died at 12 noon by a

snake bite while he is going to start washing cloths. The Tahasildar

went to that spot and realised the truth as told by sastryji. He

tendered his appolagy to our sastriji and his brother for the

trouble given by him.

 

Apart from the writtings Sastriji also wrote two more books

named as SRI PURUSHOTTAMA SATAKAM and SRI VASUDEVANANDAMU both in

Sanskrit. Thease books are available in telugu script only. SRI

VASUDEVNANDAMU is a an ALANKARA SASTRA with 29 'BANDHAS' which shall

be known by a scholer in sanskrit only.

 

There is a mention about the life history of our Sastriji in

Andhra Vignana Sarvaswamu ( Telugu Encycopedia) By Sri B.Ramaraju.

 

The famous Telugu poet 'Gadiyaram Venkata Sesha Sastry' in

his 'Raghunaatheeya Kavyam' praised our sastriji with two padyams

mentiond below.

 

" Ghanavrukshambuna naakulinniyani rokkambandu naanembuli

nnani dhanyambuna ginajalinniyani pratyakshambu choopinchi laa

lana mepppondedu nakshavidyagala gollapinni sri mallika

rjuna sastrin bavabandha sastri rutup[arnun bole keertimpare "

 

" Aanaghundaatadu satarayaagamaunu jeyanvatsarambapdu ta

nmanu teethambunu panchaleka yabhinatra snighdha toyambu baa

vidnidan daani grahimchi teertha sama paavitryambu kaisesi raa

janule tatcharitambu lanna paramascharyambu kalginchedaun "

Now the VALLELAMBA temple is in ruin state. It requires

renovation. The Renovation work is in full swing. Contributions are

welcomed. Any donar may come forward to donate libarally for the

holy work by which he or she may get the blessings of VALLELAMBA

(Goddess Saraswati).
